ashley. anaqi. aryan updates

fara | 6/2/2010 | 3:14 pm

ashley:

bumped into her classmate’s mom (this classmate also went to the same pre-school as kakak) and she remarked on how much kakak has slimmed down. i attribute this to her needing to wake up early, the daily climbing upstairs to her school premises and also that the whole family rarely does dinner.

one of her classmates even greeted kakak with a ‘hi ashley cute!’ – her response? she remained unfazed by the apparent regard that classmate had for her.

she has also passed her 7th grade exams for taekwando and now graduated to her green 1 belt.. so don pray pray with my daughter!

tomorrow’s her birthday btw. more on that post tomorrow.

anaqi:

what more can i say of this handsome boy (as nenek repeatedly calls him.. he’s bound to get a big head from all that praise).. remember back when i was in confinement – i said i could understand 50% of what he says?.. it remained the same level to this date. kakak is invaluable as the translator..

am setting a bit more time with abang  to sustain the interest he has shown in reading. he’s picked up kakak’s real reader books and been flipping through the pages nearly every nite before bedtime. it’s a challenge though – as the time he wants to read is the same as aryan’s cuddling time but i must not neglect this middle child of mine..

aryan

he turned 6 mths about 9 days ago. new milestones reached since the last update are as follows:

  • able to sit unsupported. he can also go from crawling position to sitting position and vice versa without any assistance
  • have mastered the art of crawling properly (last update he was doing a combo crawl-lunge-tummycrawl)
  • has started playing roll-the-ball with his brother. shall update the vid of him getting super excited that this very adorable growl came out of nowhere.
  • able to pull himself upright to stand and have started cruising. will cry for help (very loudly) though when he’s super tired of standing & cruising as he’s not yet mastered the art of sitting down without tumbling over.

and… drum rolllllll… he’s started his solids since last week. i started off with farley’s rusks (original) which he likes. then introduced stewed apples (royal gala seems to soften better than the other kinds).

and last weekend, when we had an impromptu lunch at chili’s klcc due to some mix-up on wedding function date.. the kiddo looked so forlorn and famished while the family was filling up their respective tanks (even after having his EBM feed), i fed him the mashed potatos that came with my monterey chicken and he loved it.

that’s all for now folks.. i need to go and get myself immersed in work.

aryan update: at 4 months and 3 weeks

fara | 4/21/2010 | 11:42 pm

he has managed to push himself onto all fours and enjoys rocking his body… basically just testing out this new sensation of no longer hugging the earth. lunges forward at times. mostly ends up scootching backwards.

he’s sometimes goes totally bonkers and starts babbling non-stop for a duration and then suddenly drops into a snooze.

has a bad case of rash on his neck, and scratches himself like a cat.. often resulting in unsightly broken skin and blood-letting (a tad)

should have taken his 2nd dose of rotavirus vaccine earlier this month – but due to this FDA press release , was advised by the paed to wait until the results of FDA investigations. we have since decided against continuing that line of vaccinations. shall focus on the mandatory schedule PLUS pneumococcal vaccine.

he’s still feeding exclusively on breastmilk – so, yeay me! and yeay to the rest of mi familia who are super super supportive of that. though nenek is now keen on giving aryan solids. i still intend to wait til he reaches 6 month mark.

have yet to manage that solo excursion with my three stooges in tow. weather not cooperating with my moods. i’d be keen to go to the playground, but then it rains that morning. i’d feel like being a homebody, then it’s a sun-shiny day.

vital stats shall have to wait for his next checkup – either this or next saturday.

til then, byebye blog

aryan update: at three months

fara | 3/13/2010 | 9:57 am

the vital stats: -

  • weight: 6.2 kgs
  • length: 68 cms
  • head circumference: 45 cms

he was supposed to have been given his 6 in 1 jab last friday – which was the reason i took the day off – but as he was still recovering from the high fever and sniffles, will probably do it today instead.

on his development, as displayed in the fb photo albums – he was able to have good neck and head control @ 2.5 mths, goes bonkers when he’s left on his back for too long – we got him a bumbo seat so yaie would not need to hold him upright all the time.

last weekend, he managed to rollover from his back to his tummy on his own.. we had to help out a bit though with freeing up whichever arm that gets stuck under him.. and he’d happily do those mini push-ups until he gets tired & starts screaming for help.

of my 3 stooges, aryan has exhibited the earliest interest in getting mobile – kakak & abang were pretty content with lying around til they turned 4 mths. i think it’s due to having older siblings running & tumbling around him so it got aryan all pumped !!!

the one where i try to understand baby talk

fara | 1/9/2010 | 9:18 pm

came across dunstan’s secret language of babies i think a year back, when i was blog-hopping and was wondering whether it would really work.

recalled the same concept when aryan was just a few days old but never got round to locating the video again.

just a recap, newborn babies normally would only cry when they’re hungry, sleepy or uncomfortable and the concept identified 5 main sounds that we need to respond to:

1. Neh means I am hungry

2. Owh means I am sleepy

3. Eh means I need to burp

4. Eirh means I have gas/wind

5. Heh means I am uncomfortable

For further details on suggested ways to respond to each sound (well, just for 4 & 5 – 1,2 & 3 is pretty self explanatory) – go to this page and download the comprehensive booklet – then go to youtube to listen to samples of the sounds.

2 weeks ago, i finally found the video on youtube – and managed to identify the ‘Neh’ and ‘Owh’ sounds quite easily & have since been trying to respond to aryan depending on what sounds he makes.

the other three (Eh, Heh and Eirh) is not that easily differentiated and am still working on identifying. which explains why aryan spits up milk quite regularly.

i still have 6-odd weeks left to figure the final 3 out before aryan starts introducing new words and start confounding me with his oratory prowess…
