watch #3: ky gives i want!

15 10 2008

KY’s giving away tickets - true to kiasu-ness, though am not sure what i’ll be up to then - just wanna get hold of the tix now!

when the first movie was released - was subjected to continous replays as kakak absolutely loved it - esp the king lemur…. let’s see how the producers out-do themselves on the sequel

well, here’s to 8 years.. and counting

15 10 2008

this day 8 years ago was my final day as an unemployed undergraduate (if you want to just count the job that mattered)

i didn’t know what to expect for 16th Oct 2000 - my repeated calls to those who recruited me (you know who you are) told me that i’d be expected to do everything - as the company was a start-up and the skies’ the limit.

if i knew then what i knew now.. would i have turned down the offer? - not a chance.. it allowed me to forge new friendships - friendships that i hope will last a lifetime…. identified roles models… learn to respect integrity at work.. have seen the uglier side of the corporate world..

here’s to 8 years…. and counting (?)

let’s see what the future holds..

anaqi update: the decision has been made!

14 10 2008

at exactly 1 year 8 months and 12 days…

what is left is the execution!

i love my milkwho would of thought that deciding on what formula to supplement anaqi’s feed would prove to be such a big issue.

when making the same transition with kakak… we didn’t even blink when we decided together that isomil will be the formula of choice (ches.. macam familiar aje that line from a company’s vision statement :P)

now that i’ve reached that same point with anaqi, it seems like no formula is good enough. no thanks to being a more aware consumer.

was reading the label for kakak’s brand of formula which offers two options - full cream vs instant milk (which btw i never bothered to read prior) and was aghast to discover that the list of ingredients for instant was more than double that of full cream. granted they included all these added vitamins and what-nots.. but to see that something apart from powdered milk is in my daughter’s milk? needless to say, i went with the full cream - and will always from this point onwards.

Finally, my feed!it doesn’t help that i am also aware isomil is guilty of adding other than soy-based milk powder in their tin! this is what kakak has been feeding on for the first 3++ years of her life (give or take the 4 months that she nursed)

behold!

Similac Isomil Powder*
43.2% Corn Syrup Solids (ftw?!), 14.6% Soy Protein Isolate (<- the soy portion), 11.5% High Oleic Safflower Oil, 10.3% Sugar (Sucrose), 8.4% Soy Oil, 8.1% Coconut Oil (another ftw?!! oil??).

Less than 2% of the following: Calcium Phosphate, Potassium Citrate, Potassium Chloride, Magnesium Chloride, Sodium Chloride, Ascorbic Acid, Choline Chloride, L-Methionine, Taurine, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Ferrous Sulfate, m-Inositol, Mixed Tocopherols, Zinc Sulfate, d-Alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate, L-Carnitine, Niacinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Cupric Sulfate, Thiamine Chloride Hydrochloride, Vitamin A Palmitate, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid, Potassium Iodide, Potassium Hydroxide, Phylloquinone, Biotin, Sodium Selenate, Beta-Carotene, Vitamin D3, and Cyanocobalamin. (FAN 9388-15)
Contains soy ingredients.

so you understand my dilemma when it comes to anaqi.

the irony of the matter is i make allowances for tidbits (the amount of additives and colorings are shocking) .. but become anal when it comes to milk. tho the frequency of the former is nowhere near milk feedings - i should be excused.

what say you?

note: by the way, the duration stated above - is exactly the same duration i have managed extended breastfeeding (i.e. without the help of formula milk). i think i deserve a pat on the back considering my first attempt with kakak *bows* thank you … thank you!!

Hadirlah kasih…
Hadir dalam mimpiku
Hadirlah cinta…
Hadir dalam hidupku

Dalam perjalananku
Masih jauh harusku tuju
Aku mencari-cari cinta
Cinta yang tulus dan sejati

Kerna aku percayakan
Cinta suci yang datang dari hati

Hadirlah kasih…
Hadir dalam mimpiku
Hadirlah cinta…
Hadir dalam hatiku
Hadirlah sayang…
Hadir dalam hidupku
Hadirlah kasih…
Agar tercapai segala-galanya

Harus aku mencari
Cinta yang tulus dan suci
Punya segala-galanya
Apa yang aku impikan

Kerna aku percayakan
Cinta suci yang datang dari hati

Kalau ditakdirkan
Bertemuku denganmu
Akan kubina istana bahagia
Agar kita bersama
Kekal selamanya

Hadirlah kasih…
Hadir dalam mimpiku
Hadirlah cinta…
Hadir dalam hatiku
Hadirlah sayang…
Hadir dalam hidupku
Hadirlah kasih…
Agar tercapai segala-galanya

and now.. past our sixth anniversary!

kakak: no .. it was ahmad who draw for me
