aryan update: at 5 months and 2 weeks
fara | 5/12/2010 | 12:14 amthe vital stats: -
- weight: 7 kgs (during recent checkup: 30 apr 2010)
- length: 70 cms
- head circumference: 45 cms
since the last post on him, he’s managed to do a combo of crawl-lunge-and-turns.. the look on his face when he finally laid his hands on his abang’s toys or kakak’s stuff that used to be out of reach is priceless.
what else does babycenter says about milestones for his age group…
@ 5 months
- Mastered skills (most kids can do)
- Distinguishes between bold colors (loves the color red and yellow)
- Plays with his hands and feet (he’s started sucking his big toe like 5 weeks ago – y’all know what that indicates!)
- Emerging skills (half of kids can do)
- Recognizes own name (grins like nobody’s business when he realises we’re actually addressing him!)
- Turns toward new sounds (esp. when it’s the sound of kakak and abang having fun away from him)
- Rolls over in both directions (there’s no stopping him)
- Advanced skills (a few kids can do)
- Sits momentarily without support (ends up doubling over and sucking his big toe, yet again
) - Mouths objects (toys, cloth diapers, relative’s toes, mama’s hair you name it – it ends up in his mouth)
- Separation anxiety may begin (not seeing this yet)
- Sits momentarily without support (ends up doubling over and sucking his big toe, yet again
@ 6 months
- Mastered skills (most kids can do)
- Turns toward sounds and voices (as above)
- Imitates sounds (not really sure whether he’s imitating or just liking to hear his own voice)
- Rolls over in both directions (as above)
- Emerging skills (half of kids can do)
- Is ready for solid foods
- Sits without support
- Mouths objects (as above)
- Passes objects from hand to hand (yupp yupp!)
- Advanced skills (a few kids can do)
- Lunges forward or starts crawling (check!)
- Jabbers or combines syllables
- Drags objects toward himself (check! and gets terribly upset when said object is extricated from his grasp)
all in all, in terms of reaching the overall milestones – aryan is comparatively more advanced than kakak and abang were when they were his age.. but i attribute this to the fact that aryan has two very active siblings to provide him incentive to be mobile a.s.a.p.
nursing wise – he is still fully on mummy’s milk supply (alhamdulillah) – so as per abang era, am giving myself rolling targets once i reach earlier target. next stop – 12 months!
shall post more photos when i get round to it…
methinks facebook/twitter killed the blogging star (or passion)
fara | 3/11/2010 | 9:31 pmjust noticed how previously my blog is where i keep (unfaithful) record of my life. but ever since the facebook bug got me good, well… updates have been sporadic …photo uploads to my blog gallery has dwindled to almost zero.. all due to the lack of interactivity compared to social media.
oh well.. onwards! and to the beyond~ (and no, am not promoting astro here..)…
anyone recall the show beyond 2000? the inventions or innovations that they showcased there – have all of the things become common place or still on the drawing board?
90 days for moms…
fara | 3/10/2010 | 9:54 pmreceived a link from mylla earlier this week – i actually read on it in the papers but thought the petition was only for banking industry workers.
figured it wouldn’t hurt to read what exactly is contained in the petition.. and ended up putting in my signature.
i never realised that we were that behind in terms of awareness on rights for working women… i do know that over in the west, moms are given more than the 2 months leave that we malaysian moms are currently entitled to. although i am yet undecided when the next offspring will be in the making (since the latest addition is only 3 mths++ old), i would definitely appreciate the additional 1 month as it would help ease me into getting back to work.
though, if compared to my mom who used to get only 40 days maternity leave – 60 days seems like a luxury already. oh well. we should keep moving forward for the betterment of the future
if you would like to support the petition, go to the site. spread the word!
