1st may @ bukit merbah

yup. as they say, mortals plan but god wills.

had actually been figuring out the roadtrip up to 5 pm on wednesday and finally confirmed the details on the way home to pickup the kids.

when i parked the car, was greeted at the door by anaqi crying his head off – and mama saying that he’s running a temperature. first thought was – there goes my trip. selfish, eh?..

anywho – msged both huda and wija re: the need to cancel … and spent the next two nights and a day nursing anaqi to health – was pretty much like a hermit thruout that duration.

alhamdulillah - he was on the road to recovery come friday – so at least we managed to run the errands we had planned when both amir and i decided to take friday off. but as it usually is whenever anaqi (or kakak) has bad nights due to illness – i end up with a pounding head the day after – so was zonked out after anaqi dozed off for his morning nap and even missed picking up kakak – thank god amir was at home – else, kesian kakak kena tunggu.

makan @ seoul bulgogi 

huda then dropped an invite to have dinner @ seoul bulgogi – a korean buffet featuring bbq and steamboat. not that i really wanted to eat – but was hankering to go out after that self-imposed exile. when she heard that mama was going to see her friends, kakak asked to come along – so she did.

and i think she was happy she did – no other time would she had been able to eat 2 servings of icecream both before and after her meal! that was me trying to buy more time to hang out – otherwise, i would be home after the first hour!

overall, quite a variety of meats to chose from – i mostly consumed whatever the rest of the gals placed on the plate – but the fried dimsum was nice .. and the mango pudding. AND most importantly – i survived the drive from wangsa maju to plaza pantai during friday after-office rush hour!! yeay me!

can’t wait ! will be off from thursday. the decision to take friday off was made due to kakak and anaqi not having their yaie around.

i took the kids to bijou bazaar last weekend – been meaning to check ‘em out since their jaya supermarket days – only that when i finally got round to the area – they’ve already ceased operating there (the complex is to be redeveloped)

kakak definitely had fun, what with face-painting and the chance of dipping her feet into the pool – i only managed to check out 3 stalls (ida shah’s, anaz’s and of course, the henna tatoo / face-painting).. a bit of a challenge to try persuade a 15-month-old to go where you want to go.. so rather than fight it.. i just stuck with hanging round the pool.

on the work-end, am wrapping up the previous phase of the project and now planning for the next. and again – i get a tad worried whether i am getting over my head with this project.

this is after all an infra-related project – based on a product that i have, at best, only beginner knowledge (from whatever reading materials i managed to google). good thing project director has identified a potential replacement (?) for me. someone who actually can make sense of all those logical/physical diagrams the operations team are forwarding me. am already on information overload!!

and then there was that incident yesterday morning. (rant alert!!)

jln jelatek has always tested the patience of most of the motorists lucky enough to use it lately due to the construction of duke highway. for the past month or so, nearby villa wangsamas – the lanes headed for kl has been cordoned off leaving only one (read, one!) lane accessible to the motorists. as if that isn’t bad enuff – you have inconsiderate drivers thinking they alone paid their roadtax (if any).

case in point:

i normally keep to the left @ jln jelatek – as that’s the lane i’d naturally end up on when i turn into the road. plus since they’ve closed off the right lane near wangsamas – i’d rather not go thru the hassle of cutting back into the left lane.

there’s 3 lanes at the start of the jln jelatek (or end, depending on where you are headed – this is at the cross roads from sri rampai, to carrefour and seksyen 4).. the right-most traffic is expected to merge with the middle lane at somepoint - turning it into a two-lane road. common sense would tell you (who are in the middle lane)  would need to give way for the cars to merge into the same lane.

then you have this driver – in a red compact car – not wanting to give way to the motorist on his right who keeps moving forward and at the same time, eating into the left lane. i would’ve just given way immediately if he had indicated his intention by flashing his signal lights.

BUT NOOOOOOOO… (his car prolly didn’t have the signal lights installed).. he kept inching forward whilst squeezing a tad bit more into my lane. i soldiered on and kept on moving - ingat dia sorang aje ke nak gi keje? aku nak drop off anak then pegi keje tauuuuu??!!!

on hindsight – if i had just given way, i wouldn’t have gotten all pissed off in the end. but there you have it – the compact ended up a few inches away from hitting my side of the car – i looked at the driver and he was gesturing to me to make way – i glared back and pressed the pedal. he did likewise – getting a bit more closer this time.

recalling that i had anaqi in the backseat and that i’d just had a paintjob for the car – i finally gave in. this dude – had the audacity to still turn around in his seat to gesture at me (no, not the middle finger – just to show annoyance)

AMBOIHHH!! dah org kasik jalan.. lagi nak marah2 lagi?

i whipped out my o2.. turned on the camera and took a photo of the offending vehicle.

to the driver of red myvi with reg. no QMM 2808 – i hope you reached wherever you headed for in record time. let’s hope we don’t cross paths again in the future – definitely not worth getting a bad start to the day with a moron like you!

late 2006 when amir suggested that we enrol kakak at the pre-school she’s currently attending, i admit i was a bit hesitant – i just placed myself in her position and imagined attending pre-school for 3 years and then going to primary school. i immediately decided it would be a bore.

fast fwd 1 yr ++ down the road – i went through the whole cycle again – only this time it was when amir was excited to register kakak @ a certain primary school in kl. i wasn’t that keen for the school – no exact reason – but then, i went thru the motions of dropping by the administration office and requesting for the necessary application forms. it was then, when i was in the midst of the school environment, that i realised i really wanted kakak to attend this school.

it’s not just the fact that they’ve been consistently performing well @ state-level but also due to the fact that the student population was not dominated by malays and their excellent extra curricular activities (there were kids playing hockey when i dropped by)

so when i came across kimster’s post re: erja managing to secure a place @ their preferred primary school, i’m reminded that i hv yet to call the school to check on the status.

 talking about skools – dura dropped by our old alma mater .. and now i am all nostalgic about our time there. LOL. of course not all the memories were saccharine sweet, but hey.. time does have the knack of dulling the pain of any excruciating experiences we’ve gone through

really should head down to seremban and serang the school before it shifts to that other location.. urgh. the last i was there, i was preggy with kakak – 2003!!

it was kakcik’s last day.

started off as any other day – then went off to have lunch with her. been meaning to try out DELIcious ever since came across a glowing review thru one of the blogs – but the outlets then were @ none of my usual haunts.

then i noticed the familiar typeface near a newly erected service apartment @ jln pinang.

it was quite a walk from klcc – what with the construction going on – but we persevered! and were we rewarded..

loved the decor even before i stepped into the cafe. i am biased since i have always had a preference for blue and shades of blue (which coincidently is soo hsia’s fav too!)

all the floor staff that we encountered had a ready smile – and service was very efficient. after deciding that soo hsia would have the nasi kerabu with ayam percik .. and for myself, the carbonara spaghettini.. and the chocolate brownie ..we only managed to talk for 10 mins when our main course arrived.

portions are large (even by my standards – and that’s saying a lot).. we asked for extra plates so we could share each others’ meal.. the carbonara was creamy and rich.. the beef bacon added the right amount of saltiness -and they were generous with the mushrooms.

the nasi kerabu’s presentation was good – it was apparently soo hsia’s first time having nasi kerabu – so briefed her that she was supposed to enjoy the ulam mixed with the rice. double thumbs up for the ayam percik .. the sauce was savoury and the chicken meat was just nicely done.

the only thing that we had to comment on was when we called one waitress to cancel our dessert (damn full already!).. she had to call on another waitress – apparently she could not understand us – so when the bill came with a comment card, we mentioned it in our feedback.

after lunch accompanied soo hsia to menara hla as she had to return her notebook & collect her final paycheck – i did some housekeeping on a loaner server which is to be decommissioned next week.

headed back to klcc – made a slight detour @ suria (thanx kakcik, will definitely use the gift!).. and proceeded to resume work until time was up.

a few colleagues decided to have drinks with her @ suria after 5 so i tagged along. stayed until the rest left and finally delivered the recognition speech that i had planned from last nite.

both of us got a tad teary .. exchanged the requisite hug (or two).. and promised that we shall have meet up during weekends & have our karaoke session(s) regardless!
