after 3 months’ delaying and finding excuses
after 8 nights of partially ignoring my kids
after waking up at 2am today and not being able to get back to sleep as too many thoughts were going through my mind to allow it to rest
after 3 hours and 30 minutes of wondering why the hell i decided to take up this exam..
/me pumps her fist enthusiastically ! warghh!!!
i am finally certified! ….as sane and of sound mind… heh..
drinks all around !!

this day 8 years ago was my final day as an unemployed undergraduate (if you want to just count the job that mattered)
i didn’t know what to expect for 16th Oct 2000 - my repeated calls to those who recruited me (you know who you are) told me that i’d be expected to do everything - as the company was a start-up and the skies’ the limit.
if i knew then what i knew now.. would i have turned down the offer? - not a chance.. it allowed me to forge new friendships - friendships that i hope will last a lifetime…. identified roles models… learn to respect integrity at work.. have seen the uglier side of the corporate world..
here’s to 8 years…. and counting (?)
let’s see what the future holds..

probably this is a sign… either for me to stop being a lrt-snob/ or to get a new ride
blom abis cite power window..the part we thot needed replacement was ok - it was the bracket(?) - which was not available when we went to have the work done - so i am still opening my door to use my season pass
anywho.. back to the original point..
so like most of the week - kakak would call me after lunch and ask me ‘mama, what time?’ (that’s her version of asking when will i be back from work).. and i’d say 6pm (just to be safe) thinking i hv enough buffer which of course turns out to be totally off and i’d be subjected to additional calls after the promised time - kakak accusing me of being late.
which was why on thursday, when i saw i can leave the office earlier than the promised 6pm - i did.. had a bit of a drama just before leaving - managed to cause the key to my drawer to break into two and had to jahanamkan harta klcc to get to my handbag.
drama done. was happy to note that i got into my car parked on P2 by 5:35pm - ample time for me to arrive home and surprise kakak for once. did my usual opening of the driver’s door to use my pass @ the season gate near those sets of elevators from topshop.. then proceeded to head for elevated highway exit.
that’s when i noticed a black myvi headed direct for the front of my car from my left. i braked but in my surprise, forgot to honk. the driver of the myvi was engrossed in turning left and only stopped when she hit my front bumper.
the lady looked shell-shocked .. like - ‘where did this car come from’… i pulled over to the side to inspect the damage. at first glance, didn’t see any damage - but the lady was honest enough to point me to the spot near the indicator lights and saw the longgggg scratch (?). the lady asked how we were to settle the damages -she owned up that it was her mistake. i did what any good (female) driver would do - call the male driver of the family.
finally settled that she pay for the estimated cost of the paint job required - but not without mentioning to the other driver that there’s a reason why there was a road bump on her route - it’s basically to indicate that you should give way (even drivers’ ed 101 teaches you on right of way?!)

2 or 3 years back, my colleagues and i experienced a brief phase of wanting to eat healthier and had signed up for a healthy food delivery service. much good that did to us - not only was the portion too small (all of us were still hungry after we’re done with the food), we ended up paying for additional (non-healthy) food heh!… since then we settled back into the routine of heading over to wisma central if we had a craving for makan nasi campur.
now a new food delivery service has been introduced - which is actually serviced by a group of housewives wanting to supplement their income (probably due to the recent fuel hike!!).
came across mangkuktingkat.com through the weekend paper. it is managed by yayasan nur hikmah which is a charity organisation and offers your basic dishes delivery for RM3.50 a day or you can complete it with rice by adding on another RM1. the delivery charge is RM1.5o a day so that totals to RM6.00 (which is definitely less than what i have to spend for lunch @ suria klcc)
the only thing is - you need to sign up for a month’s delivery - which may be a bit too much to commit to when i haven’t even tried out the service (and what of the days that i have working lunches or just want to head out for fast food?)
come to think of it - probably i should just sign up since the whole month’s delivery costs less than my 3 weeks’ lunch budget
if i do sign up, will definitely provide my feedback on the food and service here
if you are a bit more rajin and like to cook yourself, then u might wanna bring your own mangkuk tingkat. as i am all for online shopping, here’s one possible option -> yatt’s collection
note:
a major plus is that they do not use polystyrene containers or even those microwaveable plastic containers (which i am trying to reduce using) - as the namesake shows - mangkuk tingkat utilises stacked containers (alternately known as mangkuk sia) and when you sign up for the delivery service - you also pay Rm30 for 2 sets of these - they do not allow these to be shared. another plus for ‘em!

it’s been quite sometime since i made a trip to a bookstore - klcc boasts two rather large outlets - but you would normally find me @ the one at level 4 - due to the fact the design of the store that invites you to actually flip through the books anywho - for children books however, i find myself preferring the selection offered at the outlet on concourse level.
finally got my appraisal signed off around 7:30pm today *a friday!!* after 3 times having the session rescheduled and the fact that the sessions of colleagues scheduled before me all dragged way over their scheduled time.
before heading for the carpark, thought of prolly getting hold of a few books for anaqi.lo and behold - instead of a bookstore - i was greeted by the sight of toys’R'us name being splattered all over the plywood boards cordoning off the outlet. seems like i’ll be getting my wish for it to be located in klcc !!Â
note to self: do not head there with kakak and adik in tow unless their baba is aroundÂ
