the one where aryan reached a milestone

fara | 12/2/2009 | 10:54 am

not much of a milestone arr… but the umbilical stump has finally detached itself from aryan..

in the early days after returning home.. somehow i was a bit blur and ended up covering his stump when putting on the newborn diapers.. but then came to my senses and recalled that it needs to be aired to encourage it to dry up.. so rectified that mistake.

kakak was quite fascinated by the fact that this was what connected her baby bro with me – and his source of nutrients and oxygen. she couldn’t get her head around the idea at first.. but then i explained that it was like a straw and directly feeds food to her brother..

abang is still excited abt the new arrival… every time aryan fusses .. abang will start demanding that i feed his younger sibling…. associating every noise made by aryan as a sign of hunger. oh well, better him excited than jealous eh?…. i try to make sure that i allocate abang some cuddle time before turning in for the nite…just so he still feels the lurve :P

note:

btw, today was supposedly my EDD for aryan.. am just relieved that the delivery is over… this time around, i can recall how tiring it is to do normal delivery… but it’s well worth it… plus the fact that recovery time post-delivery is comparatively much faster and less painful. amir ngilu when i told him abt the stitches :)

the one where we’re home

fara | 11/25/2009 | 6:19 pm

so we’re home at last.. this morn when dr aziz came by to check on me, he mentioned abt discharging me tomorrow in time for raya. i countered whether there is any reason for me to not go home today, he said no.. so i requested to be discharged today.

dr iean then came by with the good news that the baby shows good vital signs and so far his bilirubin reading is ok (no jaundice signs) *fingers crossed*… and aryan is also discharged..

the trip home would’ve been uneventful if abang (anaqi) wasn’t cranky from being tired. when i entered the car at the hospital lobby – he was crying his heart out in the backseat. apparently, he passed the hospital’s gift shop and wanted to get a toy train set. i think he’s been eyeing that thing ever since i was admitted.

tried to calm him down but he wouldn’t settle.. then i noticed that the crying wasn’t due to the unfulfilled request any longer… he was now upset with me for not consoling him the way i usually do – which is to cuddle him. how could i? aryan was in my arms, snugly asleep.. after quite a prolonged crying session, abang finally relented to my verbal consolation and laid his head on my lap (which was free) and promptly dozed off..

this is definitely going to be an interesting few weeks at home…

more updates when i can squeeze em in.. sans photos of course, since i still haven’t fixed the plugin error :) (but there’s always facebook!)

the one where it’s 3 weeks away

fara | 11/10/2009 | 11:15 pm

and i am still stumped for a name.

kakak had a name chosen – when we were still assuming the baby would be a girl.

the last ultrasound – doc seemed quite confident that the next young’un would be a boy.. and we’ve been looking thru lists for good muslim male names – which also starts with ‘a’

suggestions are most welcome!!

now to go and snuggle with kakak and abang while i can still allocate one arm for each… ainul’s sharing of what transpires at bed time post arrival of aryssa … makes my heart break… now my main mission at home is to train either one to look for baba instead of mama for the night time cuddles.

my 2009 bonus

fara | 4/10/2009 | 6:18 pm

has come in early..

to those who work in the same company as me, don’t get overly excited or pissed. it’s not that bonus.. and seeing from the current climate – we’d be lucky if we get any this year.

SNC00147i wrote an entry about this 2 yrs & 10 months back.. and would not have expected to be blogging on the same this soon. at least not until after 3 yrs.

but yeah, i’ve got confirmation that anaqi shall be unceremoniously bumped off his pedestal as the king of his grannies’ house by dec 2009. as per calculation of my last visitor, i may be 6 weeks along.

to recap the exchange between kakak and myself on the pending arrival:

me: so kakak, we’re gonna get a new baby!

kakak: hahhh??! a new baby?? (with a concerned look on her face)

me: why, what’s wrong with a new baby?

kakak: i don’t think we can take care of two babies. we already have one baby already – anaqi is still a baby lah.

me: it’s ok. you can take care of anaqi. i will take care of the new baby. how’s that?

kakak: ehh.. no!!! i can’t – i am also still small! … ma.. i don’t think we should have another baby.

apparently, this piece of news needs awhile to be absorbed and accepted by my nucleo family.
