double blessing – for the grannies

fara | 7/27/2009 | 11:55 pm

during the trip home with my newly acquired sis-in-law, who at times would car-pool with me if schedule permits, found out that apart from this eagerly awaited buns in me oven – apparently the ashclan is also expecting another newbie sometime march 2010 (insya ALLAH)

so that’s two babies within a space of 4 months. nenek and yaie will have their hands full.. the lucky number slevin :) )

here’s to hoping that all’s well with both expecting mommies. me, third time lucky and for iza, the beginner’s luck (not exactly bunting pelamin as yours truly – but pretty close heh)

anaqi update: bloodhound instincts

fara | 7/23/2009 | 12:35 am

as i left work late on wednesday, and kakak would be in the midst of her mengaji class – made a pit stop to carrefour to replenish supplies. from a shopping list of 5 items, i ended up with a full shopping cart. shows how much will power i have. and totally supports the rule that you should never shop on an empty stomach!

anywho, reached home just nicely after the lessons were done and amir did the tranferring of shopping bags (i always forget my reusable bags) to the kitchen. i decided to take a breather at the living room before starting to store away the groceries & household items

twisties

suddenly this young boy, by the name of anaqi, scuttled hurriedly into the kitchen. i heard some rustling of bags and then TA-DAAAAA!! he re-appears with a packet of twisties! somehow he knew that it would be one of those items in the bags and manage to locate them in the midst of all those shopping bags.

good thing was, he’s already had his dinner & it’s been awhile since he’s had junk – so since baba allowed it, both kakak and anaqi was occupied with munching away for another good 10 minutes – leaving me to store the items in peace

note to self:

next time leave the incriminating bag inside the car boot until the coast is clear!

new assessment system for primary schools

fara | 7/20/2009 | 9:15 pm

my heart gave a lil leap when i read this article in the star today > click here

one of my main concerns as kakak reaches schooling age is how she will handle the exam oriented education system in our national schools. i’d love to be able to send her to the international schools available (we have one just in our backyard).. but as we are not yet able to afford this option, our next best approach is to scout for the best primary school in kl – which not only excelled academically, but also is known for its achievements in extra curricular activities.

am happy to note that our registration for kakak be enrolled in this certain primary school was accepted – amir went to the school earlier today and now she is officially a student there.. yeay!

if what the DPM mentioned the abovementioned article does pan out, we should see happier students who enjoy school for the opportunity to learn.. and not only count the # of A’s they get – to also find fulfillment in being passionate in arts, sports and other activities.

doctorhopefully, the teaching faculty will also be prepared by then in informing the kids what other options do they have apart from your run-of-the-mill ‘professional’ careers (in my days, all they harped on was on being a doctor, engineer, lawyer, accountant, lecturer, architect… slightly lower options would be teaching, nursing and the likes)

here’s to being hopeful of the future for the heirs to the future

trajedi julai… :P

fara | 7/12/2009 | 2:47 pm

for those who haven’t heard yet, my bag was stolen on 6th 7th july after work – not directly from me – but from under the driver’s seat of my car whilst i was filling up the tank. so for my friends and colleagues – if you spot a maroon ford ranger in wangsa maju, keramat, ampang area – suddenly slowing down beside your vehicle – just be extra alert.

complacent – that was what i was. since this was MY neighborhood, i’ve been here GAZILLIONS of times to fill up, my handbag WAS NOT in plain view and i was just BESIDE the car & couldn’t be bothered to lock it for a short while .

to cut things short, the silver lining was that my kids weren’t in the car during the incident and it WASN’T a snatch case (alhamdulillah!). oh, plus my mobile & house keys were still with me.

anywho, apparently – RTD (road transport dept) thinks losing my driver’s license due to my handbag being stolen is still cause to be penalised. a summary of the conversation that went on as I sat down infront of the rtd officer to submit application for new license along with my police report.

rtd officer: cik, kalau report ni takda receipt – cik kena bayar denda.

me: huh? kenapa nak kena ada receipt? masa saya buat report tu, constable tu takda pun suh bayar untuk report sebab nie kes kena curik. takkan saya nak mintak receipt tak tentu pasal. JPN (jabatan pendaftaran negara) takda pulak bising saya takda receipt for report

rtd officer: tak leh cik. kalau takda receipt, saya kena denda cik RM20.

me: (getting a bit peeved) bagi saya cakap dengan supervisor la. saya buat IC baru pun kompaun x payah bayar sebab kes curik.

after 10 minutes of locating the supervisor, the rtd officer came back. the supervisor then proceeded to explain to the officer abt some circular or instruction they had received.

apparently since mine is a rompak case (whereby the handbag was taken/lifted from my vehicle or home), rather than a ragut case (whereby the handbag is forcibly taken from my person & would normally cause harm to me) – i do not qualify for a waiver of the penalty.

friggin hell. hamik la ko deploh ringgit tu… JPN bleh waive 110 sbb dah ade police report, JPJ nak kena some piece of receipt attached to the effin report or me to be hurt in the incident baru nak waive.

mmg JPJ kuat makan duit!
