anaqi update: the decision has been made!
fara | 10/14/2008 | 2:36 pmat exactly 1 year 8 months and 12 days…
what is left is the execution!
who would of thought that deciding on what formula to supplement anaqi’s feed would prove to be such a big issue.
when making the same transition with kakak… we didn’t even blink when we decided together that isomil will be the formula of choice (ches.. macam familiar aje that line from a company’s vision statement
)
now that i’ve reached that same point with anaqi, it seems like no formula is good enough. no thanks to being a more aware consumer.
was reading the label for kakak’s brand of formula which offers two options - full cream vs instant milk (which btw i never bothered to read prior) and was aghast to discover that the list of ingredients for instant was more than double that of full cream. granted they included all these added vitamins and what-nots.. but to see that something apart from powdered milk is in my daughter’s milk? needless to say, i went with the full cream – and will always from this point onwards.
it doesn’t help that i am also aware isomil is guilty of adding other than soy-based milk powder in their tin! this is what kakak has been feeding on for the first 3++ years of her life (give or take the 4 months that she nursed)
behold!
Similac Isomil Powder

so you understand my dilemma when it comes to anaqi.
the irony of the matter is i make allowances for tidbits (the amount of additives and colorings are shocking) .. but become anal when it comes to milk. tho the frequency of the former is nowhere near milk feedings – i should be excused.
what say you?
note: by the way, the duration stated above – is exactly the same duration i have managed extended breastfeeding (i.e. without the help of formula milk). i think i deserve a pat on the back considering my first attempt with kakak *bows* thank you … thank you!!

why isomil? lactose intolerrent? if he can take susu biasa, get him on enfagrow… it’s the most recommended milk by paed…
why? it was what the kakak had.. and why kakak was fed isomil? just our (me + amir’s) preference at that point.. in the pre-labelreading era!
isomil is meant for lactose intolerant kids… i gave khadeeja isomil for a month and got scolded by the paed. nanti kalau dia dah biasa sgt minum isomil, he can grow up becoming lactose intolerant easily… pediasure is actually very good but very expensive as well.
Daniel’s on Enfagrow. The original kind (they have honey and vanilla, too). Didn’t want to give the honey type because don’t want him to drink too sweet formula. Tried vanilla while in HCMC (strangely they only have vanilla and honey there) but found out that Daniel’s breath become quite bad after consuming for a few days. So now sticking with original type. Apart from the price, I think he’s doing fine with formula
lyd,
memang after 2 yrs dah takleh kasik breastmilk aaa?? I mean if u still have milk boleh kan kasik lagi??
ziah & dura:
anaqi’s drinking dugrow now.. though not that much. he’s even cut down his own intake of my expressed milk to one 4oz feed per working day.
but he’s still nursing when i’m at home – so that’s a consolation..
mun:
bukan nya tak leh kasik breastmilk @ 2 years – just that i can’t seem to be able to find the time to pump
