it crossed my mind that it’s been awhile since anaqi got sick (not that i’m asking for it - but you can’t stop these random thoughts) .. and sure enuff - he came down with a major one last weekend

we had attended a wedding in mentakab on saturday - one of amir’s best buddies FINALLY got hitched after being the saksi for soooooooooo many friends (amir and me included). of course we could not afford to miss it. surprisingly we made good time - left kl @ 10:30am and was there by 11:55am.

hung out until 3pm (the least we could do).. and then headed back for home as we’re hosting the birthday BBQ for nenek and the house needs a bit of spiffing up.

when we reached home, it was raining. had placed anaqi in the house and was getting some stuff out of the car when the lil’ urchin just had to follow me onto the porch. which of course caused him to get a bit wet from the rain.

now in me familia, if any of us happen to get rained on - nenek will always demand us to immediate take a bath/shower and wash our hair - to avoid from catching a cold and fever. silly me.. on that day, i was too concerned abt getting the house in order, so i delayed the bath a bit but didn’t think anything of it.

the birthday BBQ went as planned - lamb and chicken was good, ayu made a birthday cake and everybody pretty much ate their fill. i had, btw, bought for nenek a Scrabble Travel set as giving the normal bajus, tudungs, brooches and whatnots has been done by her hordes of caring workmates.

that nite - anaqi was fine. but then the next day, noticed that he was a bit listless but attributed it to him being overly tired due to the excitement of the nite before. we then headed for klcc to catch wall-e @ tgv.. anaqi dozed off half an hour into the movie.

by the time we were at the bowling alley (had had to fit that in as we’re supposed to participate in this bowling tourney on 30th).. noticed that anaqi’s body was a bit warm and he sneezed quite a bit. dropped by the 24-hr clinic (as our normal GP is closed on sundays).. but saw the crowd waiting and decided to only seek consultation monday.

as i feared, his temperature went up that nite but i was armed with the fever medication provided when he had his 18-month jab .. it helped some but the cough and sniffles continued.

monday i took the day off to care for anaqi - returned to work tuesday but the fever persisted. ended up staying the nite @ nenek and yaie’s last nite due to the heavy downpour (yeah, now i am paranoid about him getting rained on).. and it’s only today am seeing signs of him improving. alhamdulillah.

it was whilst at nenek’s for the “sleepover” (as kakak puts it) that i noticed two more teeth pushing out of his upper gums. no wonder he’s gone a bit crazy on biting everything that crossed his path - me, kakak, the minyak telon and vicks bottle, gumming on the cover of a talc bottle and swallowing quite a bit of talc in the process.

so welcome teeth #8 and #9!!! here’s to hoping this doesn’t translate into more ‘ouwchies’ for mama!

last nite (since now it’s already 4:30am).. kakak looked at me with her puppy-eye look and asked sweetly once little einstein ended @ 10pm whether she can watch just onnnnneeeeeeeee more citer (handy manny).. i told her - go knock urself dead dear… tomorrow cuti! - not in the same exact words

bad habit to cultivate - i know.. but then i needed the time out the tv-time provides to me. had to wash all the bottles and tidy up the 1-weeks’ worth of toys lying around the living area.

15 aug 08 - nenek’s birthday - was supposed to be her last day in the workforce - however, she signed up for the 2-year extension though .. and as usual, was inundated with gifts from her workmates. kakak had requested that i get her grandma a ‘necklace-with-sunflowers-in-a-box-with-ribbons-and- sunflower-patterns’..

given that she tends to be particular with her specifications, i took the cowards’ way out and told her i couldn’t find the exact necklace she wanted and compromised by getting her do-it-urself arts & craft packs for greeting cards and bead necklaces. spent 1 hour holed up in her grannies’ room to help her put together her birthday gift for nenek.

this weekend suddenly turned out to be a busy one.. 3 wedding receptions, 1 house warming and a birthday party.

what would u get for a housewarming gift arh? wedding receptions u have an easy way out of the predicament - salam berlapik aje laaa.. birthdays? just ask the parents what the kids are into and find something suitable for their age and ur budget.. (minyak naik - semua bajett ekkk)

he actually turned 18mths two weekends ago. got his 18-month immunisation and that’s it until he’s in primary school. there’s those extra immunisation - but since haven’t gotten my head around to understanding the need for those - will hold off for now.

things about the boy:

• loves little einstein to bits.. even did a terjun tiruk from the sofa to sit himself properly in time for the ‘pat-pat-pat-pat-blast-off!!!’ sequence
• now recognises the route to his grandparents’ place - and will say ‘Yaaaa…’ as short for yaie when i ask him whose house are we headed for
• has a talent for rempit-ing… he likes to do the wheelie.. and he’s managed to fall backwards off the trike/toy cars that he rode 4 times since saturday
• still hasn’t grown additional molars (stuck @ 7.. lucky # slevin!)
• fav fruits - banana, papaya and royal gala apples (such a change from kakak who would only eat watermelon in her toddler years)
• his sign for ‘milk’ and ’smelly’ is similar - so just to tease him i would purposely misunderstand his meaning and check his diapers instead of offering him his feed
• oh, and he still breastfeeding! (yeay me!)

the admin page is much cleaner - and all the necessary buttons are within reach without needing to scroll up and down .. and if nothing else, i’d finally have an easy way to add video into my post (yes, i know it’s available since 2.5 … but then i directly upgraded to 2.6 - so there!)

so far, the theme i like works fine with this new version of wp - but i do have new themes i’d like to try - so this will have to wait til next i get hit by the upgrade and tinkering bug!

blom abis cite power window..the part we thot needed replacement was ok - it was the bracket(?) - which was not available when we went to have the work done - so i am still opening my door to use my season pass

anywho.. back to the original point..

so like most of the week - kakak would call me after lunch and ask me ‘mama, what time?’ (that’s her version of asking when will i be back from work).. and i’d say 6pm (just to be safe) thinking i hv enough buffer which of course turns out to be totally off and i’d be subjected to additional calls after the promised time - kakak accusing me of being late.

which was why on thursday, when i saw i can leave the office earlier than the promised 6pm - i did.. had a bit of a drama just before leaving - managed to cause the key to my drawer to break into two and had to jahanamkan harta klcc to get to my handbag.

drama done. was happy to note that i got into my car parked on P2 by 5:35pm - ample time for me to arrive home and surprise kakak for once. did my usual opening of the driver’s door to use my pass @ the season gate near those sets of elevators from topshop.. then proceeded to head for elevated highway exit.

that’s when i noticed a black myvi headed direct for the front of my car from my left. i braked but in my surprise, forgot to honk. the driver of the myvi was engrossed in turning left and only stopped when she hit my front bumper.

the lady looked shell-shocked .. like - ‘where did this car come from’… i pulled over to the side to inspect the damage. at first glance, didn’t see any damage - but the lady was honest enough to point me to the spot near the indicator lights and saw the longgggg scratch (?). the lady asked how we were to settle the damages -she owned up that it was her mistake. i did what any good (female) driver would do - call the male driver of the family.

finally settled that she pay for the estimated cost of the paint job required - but not without mentioning to the other driver that there’s a reason why there was a road bump on her route - it’s basically to indicate that you should give way (even drivers’ ed 101 teaches you on right of way?!)
