latest food delivery service

fara | 7/20/2008 | 9:25 am

2 or 3 years back, my colleagues and i experienced a brief phase of wanting to eat healthier and had signed up for a healthy food delivery service. much good that did to us – not only was the portion too small (all of us were still hungry after we’re done with the food), we ended up paying for additional (non-healthy) food heh!… since then we settled back into the routine of heading over to wisma central if we had a craving for makan nasi campur.

mangkuktingkat1.pngnow a new food delivery service has been introduced – which is actually serviced by a group of housewives wanting to supplement their income (probably due to the recent fuel hike!!).

came across mangkuktingkat.com through the weekend paper. it is managed by yayasan nur hikmah  which is a charity organisation and offers your basic dishes delivery for RM3.50 a day or you can complete it with rice by adding on another RM1. the delivery charge is RM1.5o a day so that totals to RM6.00 (which is definitely less than what i have to spend for lunch @ suria klcc)

the only thing is – you need to sign up for a month’s delivery – which may be a bit too much to commit to when i haven’t even tried out the service (and what of the days that i have working lunches or just want to head out for fast food?)

come to think of it – probably i should just sign up since the whole month’s delivery costs less than my 3 weeks’ lunch budget

if i do sign up, will definitely provide my feedback on the food and service here
if you are a bit more rajin and like to cook yourself, then u might wanna bring your own mangkuk tingkat. as i am all for online shopping, here’s one possible option -> yatt’s collection

note:

a major plus is that they do not use polystyrene containers or even those microwaveable plastic containers (which i am trying to reduce using) – as the namesake shows – mangkuk tingkat utilises  stacked containers (alternately known as mangkuk sia) and when you sign up for the delivery service – you also pay Rm30 for 2 sets of these – they do not allow these to be shared. another plus for ‘em!

anaqi & kakak update: all in one

fara | 7/17/2008 | 12:49 am

anaqi:

  • has gone bald (first visit to the barber’s!)
  • is 1 y 5 months old and still breastfeeding *yeay me!*
  • runs and jumps and tumbles
  • had bleeding gum due to one of his tumbles – thot he broke his milk teeth! now ok.
  • had a cut near his left eye due to another one of his tumbles – am just grateful whatever he hit didn’t get into his eyes – now ok too
  • has recently learnt to say ‘yaaaaaaaa-yiiiiiiiiii’ (for yaie – our term for my dad)… nenek is sooooo jealous
  • loves my friends tigger n pooh, pocoyo, thomas..
  • is still stuck with seven (7) teeth.. when the rest is planning to make their appearance – i dunno – but it’s a blessing due to point 2.

kakak:

  • has also shorn her hair (as per mama’s hairdo – but hers looks better)
  • won the first place with her team at her pre-school olympiad held @ stadium putra bukit jalil – she wore the medal for the next 2 days – even to sleep!
  • has composed at least 2 songs – 1 to sing to her brother and 1 for me
  • wants to be hannah montana (nobody’s perfect! i gotta work it! again and again til i get it right!) and forces her mama to pretend to be hannah montana too!
  • has developed exceptionally neat handwriting (when she’s not too tired when doing her homework)
  • has finally conceded to use the lil girls’ room at pre-school

pics of those moments will have to wait – somehow the explorer that came with this vista does not allow me the full functionalities of gallery!

g’nite peeps – anaqi had a slight fever earlier but alhamdulillah it has receded. which was why i couldn’t join the walk in the park (again) that THE COMPANY recreation club organised earlier .. and just when i was pumped to the point that i bought me a new pair of walking shoes. oh well, next week then – unless something else crops up!

much ado about a (national) car

    fara | 7/17/2008 | 12:30 am

on monday, went to work and as usual, parked meself at the basement of the building.

end of work day – was happily driving out of the basement parking and was slowing down as i neared the exit gates when i heard something clattering near the driver’s door. thot i hit something but saw nothing to confirm this – so merrily proceeded to wind down the windows to use my season pass

then it hit me….. the bleedin’ power window is acting up again!!

*sigh* the perennial problem plaguing owners of models coming from this carmaker

somehow managed to safely and fully wind up again (good thing, coz it was raining when i exited at the elevated highway) – but every time i hit a hump on the road – the clattering happens again.

been avoiding from using the power window since – let’s see how long i last til i bash the darned thing up!

so if you park in klcc and see a waja driver opening the door at the parking entry gates instead of just winding down the power window as god intended – you have full permission to *tsk*tsk* away – tu laaaa beli lagi model tu..kan ke memang their doors/windows slalu problem

me – still wondering why do things break down only 3 years after it came out of the factory- siap ada lulus nye sticker (lulus apa? bolos!) - in my case, i had already replaced the power window motor (or wuteva u call em things) less than a year ago (as captured in this post). wear & tear? it’s a bleedin’ car window – for a model made in malaysia – with hot and humid climate - definitely would need to be wound down and up again (esp. minyak dah naik nie – mornings i don’t bother with air-conditioning).. build that into the design!

kalau la rejeki mengizinkan. tidak la lagi akan ku beli kereta dari pembuat kereta yang satu ini!

kakak update: why i can no longer stay back (if i can help it)

    fara | 7/14/2008 | 10:38 pm

CIMG3398.jpgcalled my parents’ home today around 7pm to inform kakak that i’d be late. this was after forgetting my normal call home just before lunch time and a failed attempt to call home @ 6pm++ as my dear brother forgot to unplug the phone line from the modem after using the ‘Net

me: hi kakak, what were you doing just now?

    kakak: maaa… kakak sleeping la!

me: (aik? tgh sleep but then can talk?) kenapa? kakak tired sangat ke at school tadi?

kakak: noOoOoo.. you’re very late to come pick me up so kakak feels very sleepyyyyy ….! why are you so late? how much longer til mama comes back?!

terus cancel plan nak stay back .. packed up my stuff and headed home to arrive at the promised time of 7:30pm. and i paid $1.50 at elevated highway supposedly to cut down on travel time – just to be stuck prior to and after the toll collection for no apparent reason?! but then again, if i’d follow the normal roads – it may have been worse.. must be grateful of small blessings!

arrived as promised – by 7:30pm – but was already greeted by the sight of kakak asleep on the sofa whilst waiting for my return.. and anaqi was his usual hyper-self . until he got his much awaited feed and promptly dozed off too!

but now it’s 10:40pm and kakak is wide awake. how to convince her it’s bedtime..
