books gone, helloowww toys

fara | 6/20/2008 | 11:36 pm

it’s been quite sometime since i made a trip to a bookstore – klcc boasts two rather large outlets – but you would normally find me @ the one at level 4 – due to the fact the design of the store that invites you to actually flip through the books anywho – for children books however, i find myself preferring the selection offered at the outlet on concourse level.

finally got my appraisal signed off around 7:30pm today *a friday!!* after 3 times having the session rescheduled and the fact that the sessions of colleagues scheduled before me all dragged way over their scheduled time.

before heading for the carpark, thought of prolly getting hold of a few books for anaqi.lo and behold – instead of a bookstore – i was greeted by the sight of toys’R'us name being splattered all over the plywood boards cordoning off the outlet. seems like i’ll be getting my wish for it to be located in klcc !!

note to self: do not head there with kakak and adik in tow unless their baba is around

kakak update: she has turned 5 and of best friends

fara | 6/13/2008 | 9:39 pm

she turned 5 while we were at penang the week i took off to head north. methinks we have been taking her on vacation for each of her birthdays without fail. lucky for her that her birthday coincides with school holidays.

CIMG3323but as it fell during school hols – and coz her parents are a bit lazy in that department – we did not host any birthday party. to compensate, on her first day back to school, arranged that during their break – kakak would hv a birthday cake and goodie bags to share.

i based my estimation on her pre-1 class from last year and also from kakak quoting names of her classmates – so ended up with 16 goodie bags to share. monday evening, when she reported on her day at school – discovered that we were actually short – and kakak said “ma, teacher ask me to tell you that we have 18 in my class!”

as we had extras at home – i provided her with another 4 goodie bags to take to her class on tues. had the inspiration to call the administration office – but was flabberghasted to hear that her class holds 27 kids!! 27 kids? how can that be conducive?

i immediately went off tangent when i heard the # of kids in her class. terus buat YM conference with amir. both agreed that 27 seems to be a bit too high a number – considering that it was a premium pre-school too! issue to be highlighted during parent-teacher day this weekend

CIMG3282.jpgcome wednesday – i myself headed over to her classroom with anaqi in tow to provide the additional goodie bags. kakak immediately approached the classroom door and that was when noticed her entourage – two cute girls with curly hair (slightly smaller in build from kakak of course!) was kepoh-ing to see who is it at the door.

i had assumed that these were sonia and sofia – two names that kept being mentioned in her reports to me at the end of the day – who were supposedly her best friends. but i was wrong – kakak responded that one of sofia and another anis.

i asked where is sofia? ’she’s not my best friend la, ma. she sits far away’ – i took that as reference to their classroom seating – so who are your best friends?

sonia, damia, anis, imanina…. and she rattled off a few other names …

this. from a girl who during her pre-1 class report was noted as ‘likes to sit by herself and rarely joins in group play’ .. alhamdulillah. kawan la banyak2 kakak.. the more the merrier!
