come on (much-needed) long weekend!!

fara | 4/30/2008 | 3:03 am

can’t wait ! will be off from thursday. the decision to take friday off was made due to kakak and anaqi not having their yaie around.

i took the kids to bijou bazaar last weekend – been meaning to check ‘em out since their jaya supermarket days – only that when i finally got round to the area – they’ve already ceased operating there (the complex is to be redeveloped)

the butterfly babeskakak definitely had fun, what with face-painting and the chance of dipping her feet into the pool – i only managed to check out 3 stalls (ida shah’s, anaz’s and of course, the henna tatoo / face-painting).. a bit of a challenge to try persuade a 15-month-old to go where you want to go.. so rather than fight it.. i just stuck with hanging round the pool.

on the work-end, am wrapping up the previous phase of the project and now planning for the next. and again – i get a tad worried whether i am getting over my head with this project.

this is after all an infra-related project – based on a product that i have, at best, only beginner knowledge (from whatever reading materials i managed to google). good thing project director has identified a potential replacement (?) for me. someone who actually can make sense of all those logical/physical diagrams the operations team are forwarding me. am already on information overload!!

and then there was that incident yesterday morning. (rant alert!!)

jln jelatek has always tested the patience of most of the motorists lucky enough to use it lately due to the construction of duke highway. for the past month or so, nearby villa wangsamas – the lanes headed for kl has been cordoned off leaving only one (read, one!) lane accessible to the motorists. as if that isn’t bad enuff – you have inconsiderate drivers thinking they alone paid their roadtax (if any).

case in point:

i normally keep to the left @ jln jelatek – as that’s the lane i’d naturally end up on when i turn into the road. plus since they’ve closed off the right lane near wangsamas – i’d rather not go thru the hassle of cutting back into the left lane.

there’s 3 lanes at the start of the jln jelatek (or end, depending on where you are headed – this is at the cross roads from sri rampai, to carrefour and seksyen 4).. the right-most traffic is expected to merge with the middle lane at somepoint - turning it into a two-lane road. common sense would tell you (who are in the middle lane)  would need to give way for the cars to merge into the same lane.

then you have this driver – in a red compact car – not wanting to give way to the motorist on his right who keeps moving forward and at the same time, eating into the left lane. i would’ve just given way immediately if he had indicated his intention by flashing his signal lights.

BUT NOOOOOOOO… (his car prolly didn’t have the signal lights installed).. he kept inching forward whilst squeezing a tad bit more into my lane. i soldiered on and kept on moving - ingat dia sorang aje ke nak gi keje? aku nak drop off anak then pegi keje tauuuuu??!!!

on hindsight – if i had just given way, i wouldn’t have gotten all pissed off in the end. but there you have it – the compact ended up a few inches away from hitting my side of the car – i looked at the driver and he was gesturing to me to make way – i glared back and pressed the pedal. he did likewise – getting a bit more closer this time.

recalling that i had anaqi in the backseat and that i’d just had a paintjob for the car – i finally gave in. this dude – had the audacity to still turn around in his seat to gesture at me (no, not the middle finger – just to show annoyance)

AMBOIHHH!! dah org kasik jalan.. lagi nak marah2 lagi?

i whipped out my o2.. turned on the camera and took a photo of the offending vehicle.

MyVi QMM 2808

to the driver of red myvi with reg. no QMM 2808 – i hope you reached wherever you headed for in record time. let’s hope we don’t cross paths again in the future – definitely not worth getting a bad start to the day with a moron like you!

hello from cyberjaya – the land of geeks (heh)

fara | 4/18/2008 | 2:38 pm

the past few weeks i’ve been incarcerated at this land-of-geeks *nowadays it’s cool to be a geek, remember?*

never in my working life have i managed to see so many people in so many days – that’s what you get when you ‘turun padang’ since me project is a tad short on resource & me being me – i’d rather get the job done than squabble on who should provide the resource.

anywho. moi observations so far

  • good food can only be found outside of cyberjaya (unless some one can refute this and suggest good places to eat within the area lah)
  • you can only get away with parking @ the visitors’ parking bays for 1 whole week before the head of security leaves a love note politely asking you to park where the other minions park
  • cyberjaya is really hot (as in the temperature) – should plant more trees – those the leafy types – not the palm-y type….
  • parking is free
  • there are tonnes of speed demons here .. esp. round about 9 am – my guess is most of ‘em start work @ 9am here

on another note, i’ve been quietly expressing my milk @ the surau here with no one actually being the least bit curious (either that or they’re a bit embarrassed).

last week, one lady suddenly approached me and queried me on breastfeeding and pumping and such and the subsequent days, she’ll always have a word or two with me. then yesterday, the conversation somehow touched on my mom’s experience breastfeeding me and how we are now lucky to have all those thingamajigs to assist in extended breastfeeding for working moms. the lady started asking on details abt my mom – which led to a discovery – that she was a close friend of my mom!

small world, eh… imagine me – bumping into a friend of my mom – in the land of geeks!  :)

my lil smiling angel

fara | 4/9/2008 | 9:42 pm

i had a bout of food poisoning on sunday which carried onto monday. needless to say, i was pretty much useless those two days. anak2 pun layan ala kadar – jangan sampai kena tahap jadik anak terbiar. amir? he just had to live with it :P (two days aje ehhh awak?)

… tuesday morning i woke up and dragged myself out of bed to get myself and the kids ready to head for work/school/yaie’s.. was in the midst of assisting kakak with her morning bath when we had the following conversation.

k: mama, are you going to work?

me: yes, why?

k: you feeling better now? not sick anymore?

me: (still feeling a tad bit sorry of myself)… not that sick.. but i have to work

k: then can you please smile at me?

*gulp!* mentally kicked myself for being self-centered as i realised that being sick does not preclude me from at least making an effort to smile with my own kids!

immediately beamed at her and apologised for being an ass (which is not the exact word i used, of course?!).. to which she graciously responded ‘it’s ok, ma. i know you weren’t feeling well. but now you are better, smile ok?’

so. if you haven’t done so. smile to those close to you …

and even to those not so close.

you got nuthing to lose and everything to gain. :)

pain in the english

fara | 4/2/2008 | 6:44 pm

enuff said – spotted at the entrance of equine park jusco where i had lunch the other day.

i actually doubled back after passing by the signboard – just had to take a snap.

enjoy

another one that’s getting on my nerves is  the radio commercial that i’ve been hearing on mix.fm “finally, a home loan that lends you back!! – rhb my1 revolving homeloan” .. am not 100% sure that the sentence is wrong – but it sure made me cringe everytime i heard it!

what think you?
