anaqi update: another milestone (delayed update)

fara | 3/13/2008 | 12:20 am

weight: to be updated

height: to be updated

basically, since his birthday – i haven’t bothered to check his weight yet.

but.. i have more important things to note – another milestone.

he’s finally walking on his own a few days shy of turning 13 months… if i were to compare to his kakak – he’s totally on time as kakak also started walking round about the same time.

the weeks preceeding that fateful day – anaqi had started taking a couple of steps with hands outstretched. as his uncle pouji calls it – stail zombie kampung pisang.

on friday, two weeks ago – i was having tea whilst nenek, yaie, cik pouji were watching the telly. kakak was busy drawing – as usual. when he started to take a few steps, we didn’t pay much attention as we were expecting him to sit down in a bit.

checking out rumput... tak penah nampakthen with face scrunched up in concentration – both arms by his side – he purposely walked from one end of the living area to the other.  all of us collectively held our breath for fear of distracting him… once he reached the sofa where yaie was seated, we spontaneously clapped in unison – much to the delight of anaqi.

since then, there was no stopping him. he’s now also into pausing to squat and pick up things from the floor – then heaving himself up again to continue his course.

his teethy mugshot

i promised back in this post that i would upload a mugshot of his first tooth. well, easier said than done! every time i tried – i end up with either blurred image as the shot was too far or a wet camera (anaqi trying to chomp on the lens!)

so finally, after a few more molars have made their appearance – i managed to get a few good shots. to kick start a good habit – i’ve already starting to teach him to use his baby toothbrush – he’d get excited whenever he sees kakak brushing her teeth  and i’ll let him handle his own ’step 1′ brush.

here’s some of those i managed to capture

buat muka busyuk sketttCIMG2638yeayy outing with kakak and mama

enjoy!

among the many useless things to do on fb

fara | 3/11/2008 | 12:45 am

such as …

finding out your score for dr. phil’s personality test!

who this bugger is i dunno – tho i do recall a character in high school musical 2 mentioning him.

one of the FAQ went like this -

Why should I take this test?
Well you don’t have to – but you will be missing out. Apparently, the Human Resources department at major corporations use this very test to gain a better perspective on the psychological make-up of their present and potential employees.

really?? …. well darned it! i’ll have a go then! answered the 6 (or was it 8) questions.. and tadaaa!!!

I scored 32 on Dr. Phil’s personality test (yeay! err what’s the passing mark?!)

Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful and practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest . Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who’s extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over it if that trust is ever broken.

woo hoo.. this is SCARILY accurate (this line sound familiar? – i immediately block applications that end with that sentence!)

so there – to potential employers.. no need to do PAPI or PEPI.. here’s my personality – go and assess whether i am suitable for your workforce!

the weekend thus far

fara | 3/10/2008 | 1:02 am

saturday: polls day

vote2people voted (me not included – i am not registered) .. we had a quiet (relatively) day at home.. kakak totally enjoyed herself having her cousins around to play with. amir went bowling with pouji.

oh..then we had problems deciding what to have for dinner. we finally decided on bakerzin @ klcc – my previous visits were good and i had always intended to take the family for lunch or dinner sometime.

arrived there to an empty cafe.. i was fine with it as that meant faster service for us! amir ordered seafood fried rice, kakak -fettucini with meatballs and me – penne el pollo.

the fried rice tasted weird – can’t pinpoint why.. amir ended up picking thru the dish as it had wayy to much carrot bits (and i just remembered he doesn’t like carrots)

kakak’s fettucini seemed like a watered-down version of the dish i had the last time i was there. but kakak somehow still thought it was good (in retrospect, i should be thankful – else, i’d be hard-pressed to order something else)

my penne el pollo was just ok and it was the only item on the table that was finished at the end of dinner.

whilst paying up @ the counter – i remarked that the food didn’t seem up to par – the supervisor just nodded – didn’t seem like he took note of the feedback but proceeded to hand me a promotional flyer for their cakes and pastries. yeeesh!

overall – disappointing. not heading there again!

sunday: the aftermath

hoorayearly morning – woke up after dozing off while feeding anaqi – and found out that a few other states (apart from kelantan, which i was sure wouldn’t fall into bn hands) was lost to the opposition.

selangor being one of the most notable – why? coz my bro-in-law works for an agency of state govt and had in the past few weeks been tasked to follow the previous mb around – papa had to pick up ayu and the kids to vote as BIL was otherwise occupied.

when i first found out that he was part of the entourage, my first thought was – is this part of his job description ? shouldn’t the govt agency be neutral?

true enough – when we headed over to mama’s for breakfast – papa regaled us with the story of the state office being surrounded by opposition supporters… which led to BIL only arriving in keramat @ 4am.. BIL was still sleeping when we finished our brekkie.

his phone kept ringing and sms-es streaming in – coming from colleagues, vendors, friends.. all those who know how closely BIL’s company worked with the previous mb’s office. and of utmost concern would be – will the agency still be in existence with the formation of a new selangor govt?

kita tunggu dan lihat. for ayu’s sake, am hoping it will still exist.

eat #2: burger king hershey’s sundae pie

fara | 3/5/2008 | 4:06 pm

been awhile since i had bk’s for lunch and as my lunch date had to bail on me – wasn’t in the mood for nasi anymore.

hersheys sundae pie.jpgbeen seeing the promo materials for bk’s hershey sundae pie and decided that today’s the day i add it to my value meal.

eating the bk fish meal was actually a trip down memory lane – as my first meal @ melbourne when we arrived as fresh scholars was the bk fish @ hungry jacks (same fastfood chain – different name)

hersheys sundae pie layers.jpgthe first bite of sundae pie revealed that it had a main layers – bottom layer was like a cross between brownie and cake – very chocolatey.. on top of it is a mixture of cream cheese + whipped cream, then you have the choc pudding and topped off with more whipped cream and choc curls. decadent, i know!

based on this site , it’s good for u as it’s low in cholesterol but bad.. bad… coz it’s high in saturated fat and sugar. but if it makes you happyyyyy.. it can’t be  that bad (remember sheryl crow’s song?)
