the weekend thus far
fara | 3/10/2008 | 1:02 amsaturday: polls day
people voted (me not included – i am not registered) .. we had a quiet (relatively) day at home.. kakak totally enjoyed herself having her cousins around to play with. amir went bowling with pouji.
oh..then we had problems deciding what to have for dinner. we finally decided on bakerzin @ klcc – my previous visits were good and i had always intended to take the family for lunch or dinner sometime.
arrived there to an empty cafe.. i was fine with it as that meant faster service for us! amir ordered seafood fried rice, kakak -fettucini with meatballs and me – penne el pollo.
the fried rice tasted weird – can’t pinpoint why.. amir ended up picking thru the dish as it had wayy to much carrot bits (and i just remembered he doesn’t like carrots)
kakak’s fettucini seemed like a watered-down version of the dish i had the last time i was there. but kakak somehow still thought it was good (in retrospect, i should be thankful – else, i’d be hard-pressed to order something else)
my penne el pollo was just ok and it was the only item on the table that was finished at the end of dinner.
whilst paying up @ the counter – i remarked that the food didn’t seem up to par – the supervisor just nodded – didn’t seem like he took note of the feedback but proceeded to hand me a promotional flyer for their cakes and pastries. yeeesh!
overall – disappointing. not heading there again!
sunday: the aftermath
early morning – woke up after dozing off while feeding anaqi – and found out that a few other states (apart from kelantan, which i was sure wouldn’t fall into bn hands) was lost to the opposition.
selangor being one of the most notable – why? coz my bro-in-law works for an agency of state govt and had in the past few weeks been tasked to follow the previous mb around – papa had to pick up ayu and the kids to vote as BIL was otherwise occupied.
when i first found out that he was part of the entourage, my first thought was – is this part of his job description ? shouldn’t the govt agency be neutral?
true enough – when we headed over to mama’s for breakfast – papa regaled us with the story of the state office being surrounded by opposition supporters… which led to BIL only arriving in keramat @ 4am.. BIL was still sleeping when we finished our brekkie.
his phone kept ringing and sms-es streaming in – coming from colleagues, vendors, friends.. all those who know how closely BIL’s company worked with the previous mb’s office. and of utmost concern would be – will the agency still be in existence with the formation of a new selangor govt?
kita tunggu dan lihat. for ayu’s sake, am hoping it will still exist.
