fco (faramir clan outing): cj7 by stephen chow
fara | 2/7/2008 | 11:23 pmso it’s cny and we’ve got nuthin planned for the morning. made phone reservations for the show @ 11am but the catch is need to collect by 10:15am, else the tix are released – had wanted to guarantee the tix by paying online but damned system kept timing out on me.
as it were when you have kids to hustle, kakak decided to take her bath only at 9:45am – which is definitely not nuff time to get ready and be @ klcc b4 the 10:15am deadline - so amir went there first to collect the tickets (good thing i have the parking season pass, eh?)
the whole clan arrived just in time to get some munchies and settle down before the movie started.
the movie reeks of stephen chow. the signature exaggerated actions and what-nots. we had quite a few laughs in between – though i did not like (or get) the sequence whilst dicky (the son) was locked in the cupboard with the ‘toy’ when he disobeyed his father yet again.
all the cosmic effects and the laser show was a bit overboard and did not seem to serve any purpose. i bet if you cut out that whole sequence and went direct to when the ‘toy’ started to reveal itself as a cutesy lil alien dog, it wouldn’t make any difference to the movie.
had a tear-jerking moment when the father supposedly died due to a workplace accident. but then the sentimental effect was disrupted by kakak requesting to go to the loo.. she always manage to select the most ‘appropriate’ times during any screening.
kitty zhang (as the teacher) just in there as eye candy i guess. though her name was listed as main characters, not much action from her part apart from looking sweet in her cheongsam.
love the boss character tho – very the heartwarming – the all bark but no bite kinda guy. his character shined a bit more than the lady teacher
anaqi – as per the enchanted show - was well-behaved and actually fell asleep during the show. was startled a few times tho – this is a stephen chow movie – sudden flying objects etc etc.. even when he woke up, he didn’t fuss.. this bodes well for future fcos!!
overall i’d give the movie a 5.5/10 rating. just becos some of the scenes do not look sesuai with kids performing them.
after the movie, had a bit of rest b4 heading for adib’s birthday party. was a bit puzzled as never heard of pizza hut offering birthday party packages – but then after clarifying wit dydd, found out it was just a normal reservation for x pax – all the other preparation (cakes, goodies bags, decorations) were all done themselves.
kakak seemed to be a bit more relaxed amongst the g78 and entourage already – anaqi as usual is his smiling self whenever a lady talks to him.. (kecik2 dah jadik casanova!)..
the theme of the party was cars (y’know, lightning mcqueen).. kakak whispered to me that only boys plays with cars… heheh.. oh kay… ‘but we can still celebrate together, kakak’ i responded
left around 3:30pm altho supposed to end @ 4pm – anaqi was already showing signs of turning cranky as it’s about time for his nap.
thank you adib+mummy+daddy for the party and everything!
