kakak update: the one who’s on school holidays

fara | 11/29/2007 | 10:07 am

lilo in the makingtwo weeks prior to the school break was her annual school concert – the theme was around the world and her pre-1 class show was titled alohans on the beach. being n00bs to this, we were pretty excited.

planned to arrive early to get the best seats but anaqi had his own plans (taking longer nap than usual) so we arrived with minutes to spare and ended up in the last row of the auditorium. hence the lack of quality snapshots. our consolation was that the school had already arranged for professionals to take the videos and photos.

my only gripe was altho the principal had already requested that the parents and relatives to give as much support and applause – i noticed that not many were enthusiastic. i think only a smattering of the audience actually stood up and clapped along. i pity the teaching staff who kept up the clapping and shouting encouragements to the kids.

kakak and her houseprolly parents are not keen on their kids dancing – they’d rather these pre-schoolers excel in their academic area?

school was officially out nov 16th but the pre-school offered us to send her to holiday camp for the 1st week of school hols and since kakak agreed to it, we signed her up.

was initially a bit worried that she might get tired since the camp is from 9am to 4pm – the longest she’s ever been at school – and she sometimes takes her nap @ 2-3pm.

kakak's gingerbread housebut when i called home on the 1st day – her enthusiastic reply to my queries on how her camp was settled everything.

the school took her to a rabbit farm in senawang and also had her build a gingerbread house – as seen in the photo. we still haven’t eaten the gingerbread house as per kakak’s instruction to wait until she can show it to her abg haikal and adam!

anaqi update: bad mommy

fara | 11/28/2007 | 5:46 pm

adik and pianojust realised. it’s true what they say about the novelty of being a parent wears off with every successive kid born into the family.

with kakak, i actually managed to organise the photos we take of her even up to the weeks.

anaqi posing

with anaqi, we’ll have bursts of energy whereby we’d take photos. then there’ll be a lull of anywhere between 2 weeks to months.. and we’d start over again. don’t even asks whether i organise his photos.. anaqi’s album in my photo gallery (shutterbug) proves the point

note to self: must punctuate every milestone with at least a few photos.

note to self #2: must go and get anaqi weighed. been nearly than a month since last weighing (he lost a few hundred grams – from nearly 8kg down to 7.6kg.. uhuks!!)

talk about literally translating

fara | 11/28/2007 | 5:39 pm

was trying out google’s blog search since was suddenly interested to locate other mothers in malaysia who breastfeed.

keyword: breastfeeding mothers malaysia

out of all the results, one that was way off the mark had this in the content of his blog (yes, his.. it was a guy’s blog and he was complaining or bitching about malaysians accepting indonesian artiste as compared to malaysian artistes)

“breastfeeding monkey babies in the forests, but ignoring their own babies.”

heh… it doesn’t take a genius – though you must be malay or familiar with malay proverbs to figure this one out – this guy literally translated the proverb

kera (or was it monyet?) di hutan disusukan, anak di rumah kelaparan

methinks there exists english equivalents… but heyy… at least don’t use the term breastfeeding… (conjures too many disturbing images).. feeding cukup laa… d’uh!

8 random facts/habits

fara | 11/26/2007 | 12:16 pm

am in the middle of facilitating training – so am filling up time..

ziah tagged a while back… so here’s to another no-brainer entry!!!

1. Each blogger must post these rules

2. Each blogger starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves

3. Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’ve been tagged and to read your blog.

  • am anal about formatting. soohsia can attest to that. people would be worried about content – but i’d go berserk trying to make all my documentation aesthetically pleasing… which is why, me old project manager always pass his presentation deck to me for cleaning up…
  • used to be sarcastic … but now am a bit toned down.. when u’ve seen miracles coming out of you (if you didn’t get what i meant – it’s my kids laaaaa.. d’uh)..
  • am a softie at heart (a bit contradictory to the earlier fact eh?)… i’ve cried watching movies (yup.. hindustani included)… reading books… reading news (when it involves babies being abused)… peeling onions.. :P
  • loves to dance… have caused embarrassment to my shopping-mates by breaking into a dance sequence whilst browsing thru cds at records stores.
  • tried smoking once – thanks to shaz – my roomie back in frankston house. she pilfered some of her dad’s and we ended up puffing near our room window.. decided it’s not for me.. :)
  • have just completed my 7-year bond due to the scholarship i took with a GLC - october 2007 should definitely end up in the history books… now.. to decide whether or not to start shooting out my resume…. heck.. i haven’t even updated my resume!
  • wants to learn how to swim – tapi takut.. i panic as soon as people let go of me in the water..
  • have yet to register as a voter. nuff said.

need to survey who else hasn’t been tagged.. then will update
