did you have one?

fara | 5/29/2007 | 11:11 pm

was blog-hopping earlier doing my rounds of skoolmates when i came across lynor’s entry on bantal bushuk… i guess majority of kids would have a fav blankie/pillow/soft toy that they absolutely can’t live without.

i vividly remember this worn-out small pillow being mercilessly gentel-ed whilst i finish my milk. pillow already gone – dunno where it went to. also had a teddy bear that was bought when i was born in penang (ayu had similar teddy bear too – only hers look evil!!) … only ayu’s survived the 29-odd years of being in the family.

kakak – so far no security blanket or pillow.. the only habit when having her milk or dozing off is sniffing her wrist or playing with her hair while having one of her legs up in the air (mcm antenna tv) – from age 1++ til now.. but at least i dun hv to worry abt accidentally leaving a pillow/blankie/soft toy at home whilst travelling and having to suffer temper-tantrums of a kid missing that security item.

anaqi – too early to judge whether he’d end up getting attached to a fav object. but so far, he manages to sleep on his own after being fed. so hopefully i am training him to not depend on other items to fall asleep.

which security item did you depend on?

anaqi update: hair no more

fara | 5/19/2007 | 11:06 am

Bad hair.. ehh no hair day!last weekend we finally decided to just carry it out… shaving off all of anaqi’s hair.

with kakak, she got her first hair-cut when she came down with measles and i couldn’t stand seeing her suffering with her heavy mop of hair. at that point, we headed over to our neighborhood barber and had him shave her hair – cukur pakai that device yg slalu guna for guys who wanna sport the recruit look

tiredafterthehairdo.jpgwith anaqi, amir decided to do it himself. so we got us your requisite pisau cukur, amir’s philips electrical shaver and also a hairdresser’s scissors.

  • first, start off with a baby boy with hair
  • secondly, hold on to bits of his hair and trim these off using your scissor. at this point, the baby will not be the least bit bothered, though a bit intrigued
  • next, the tricky part – take the pisau cukur and slowly, ever so slowly, shave the remaining hair.. baby will start fidgeting at this point – it helps to have a strong grip – though not too strong – you don’t want to squeeze the life out of the baby!
  • trickiest would be near the nape of the neck. an option would be to hold the baby boy such that he is on his tummy – but if baby boy is the type that likes to push and pump his legs – this may be a bit dangerous too!
  • since anaqi does not quite like being on tummy for long periods of time, it is a trying experience for him and he lets us know by screaming blue murder.
  • pointer for mommies, it’s at this point that you need to toughen up and steel yourself against the heart-wrenching cries (thank god we’re now at our own place – if we were still at mama’s – she would’ve come running to her grandson’s rescue!!)
  • if baby becomes very agitated – a sure way to shut him up – offer him the breast .. he will be pacified, start suckling and doze off.. daddy should seize the moment and do the finishing touches whilst baby is thus occupied.

prisonbreaklook.JPGand tadaaaa!!! you have yourself a bald baby!

p/s: if baby brother has an elder sister – ensure that sister stays away from the vicinity of where you’re doing the deed – she may turn on you for torturing her brother thus. the front lawn is a good place for her to hang out and sing her heart out to drown the noise of her brother’s complaints. :)

happy mama’s day!!

fara | 5/15/2007 | 12:02 am

Awwww my first happy motherlook what i got for mother’s day!! my first mother’s day card – handmade (errr.. handcolored by me own first born)… truly touched – very de nearly menitiskan air mata .. ehekss…

anywho, it was last friday when i received it – as usual, headed home during the long lunch break to relieve amir from babysitting so that he could go for his friday prayers.

upon entering the threshold, amir stated simply ‘mama cannot go upstairs!‘

from the sentence, i knew that it was a message relayed from kakak. methot she was having one of her mood swings – asked amir whether they got into a fight whilst i was at the office. amir just grinned and repeated the sentence again.

so i stayed downstairs

the proud young i was in the kitchen preparing lunch when amir called on me to make an appearance at the living area. saw that kakak was hiding behind her baba. amir demanded that i close my eyes.

i followed the instructions (but i did sneak a peak).. and kakak made her way infront of me… she had both hands behind her – i was guessing that she wanted to show off her latest artwork from class earlier.

then.. ta ra!!!! ‘happy mother’s day, mummy!!! ehhh!! mama!!!’ kakak exclaimed and proudly brought her hands from behind her – showing off the results of her enterprise.

definitely a must-keep item in the family album!!

Rainbow-4

look at the rainbow!!

i spotted a rainbow on the horizon while passing thru the AKLEH (ampang-kl elevated hiway) toll gate on my way home from work

wished i had stopped and got a shot of it too.. from where i stand (or drive), it was near the vicinity of highland towers and quite bewdiful…

CIMG0977.JPGhad a family do last labor & wesak day’s holiday.. the whole ashclan headed over to chitralada restaurant, great eastern mall. ayu had been planning for this outing for ages.. she’s quite the bossy one – kakak takes after her in that sense.

we arrived at roughly 12:30pm.. just before the public holiday lunch crowd and got the place very nearly to ourselves. loved the atmosphere.. the tables were placed at just the right distance away from each other to allow some personal space… and even tho one of the patrons had the audacity to smoke in one corner, we managed to enjoy ourselves.

the food was quite scrumptious.. and amongst us, 9 adults and 4 children, we managed to do the food justice.

will want to head there again some other time.. prolly with just the nucleo family hehehe

address : lot 6 & 9, level 3, great eastern mall, jln ampang (near the jelatek-ampang intersection)
