blast from the 80s

fara | 4/20/2007 | 11:42 am

so like mates have started this spreading disease called reminiscing.

it started with photos from the 90s..

then they started moving backwards… to the 80s… with nins giving us ‘child of the 80s’ list…

wegz tambah plak ngan match-the-theme-song pop quiz for cartoons from the 80s.

gonna try my luck.

1. “… more than meets the eye” – transformers!!!

2. “… they’re the worlds most fearsome fighting team” – TMNT

3. “… there’s something weird, and it don’t look good” – ghostbusters

4. “… feel the magic, hear the roar” – thunder thunder thundercats

5. “… he’s the greatest, he’s fantastic” – mighty mouse?

6. “… dance your cares away, worries for another day” – carebears

7. “… there’s a race to be on the top, the competition doesn’t stop” – jem and the holograms

8. “ … where will you wander? hither and yonder, letting your heart be your guide”

9. “… next time you’re feeling blue, just let a smile begin” – smurf

10. “… so much to see, waiting for you and me”

probable matching 80s cartoon:

denver the last dinosaur + fraggle rock + transformers + jem + inspector gadget + heathcliff + snorks + strawberry shortcake + ghostbusters + smurfs + care bears + gummi bears + mighty mouse + danger mouse + ducktales + my little pony and friends + spiderman + teenage mutant ninja turtles + thundercats

camne weggerz nie bleh ingat semua lagu2 nie pun defeats me. i remember some of them pun sbb those cartoons are shown again on disneychannel/playhouse disney. hehehe

car pool car pool

fara | 4/20/2007 | 11:13 am

there have been talk in the news of dbkl charging s.o.v. (single occupant vehicles) for entry to city centre in a bid to reduce traffic woes. a nifty idea, definitely, provided that we have world-class public transportation (oh.. how i miss melbourne transportation)

as i have pretty much lost faith in our local public transportation, regardless of what happens with that idea – i may very well still drive to work but with a twist.

coz as of today, i have officially joined mama’s ranks as a car pooler (is there such a word?). mama was always the one who pools whenever she commutes to work – a few years ago, she hitched rides with her colleague.. 2-3 years since, she’s the one offering rides to cheras.

marlin had been living in w.maju ever since she worked in the company and as i had just moved to the area, had naturally offered her to car pool with me to the office. i will definitely be driving everyday so it just makes sense.

the commute seems shorter (even with bad traffic) as instead of depending on the mix.fm crew or making comments on other drivers for diversions – i now have someone to talk with :)

so marlin, here’s to our future pooling adventures.. and may you be patient with my driving :P

some people just shouldn’t be allowed to be behind the wheel

fara | 4/19/2007 | 3:16 pm

it’s 8:15 am ..

you are on jalan jelatek heading for kl with cars lined up all the way to the junction near carrefour…

the traffic police is controlling the flow and your lane is allowed to move when suddenly you are bumped into from behind..

what do you do?

  1. ignore the slight bump and go on your merry way
  2. get out of your car, get the details of the driver behind you and ask him/her to pull over somewhere where you wouldn’t be obstructing traffic while you settle the dispute
  3. get out of the car and have a mighty row smack in the middle of jln jelatek causing unnecessary delay to other commuters heading for their workplace

personally, i’d do either 1. if it was a slight bump.. it is peak hour and i do have to get to work or 2. if i heard some major metal dents – just so i can get the details for insurance claims

an old bugger actually did 3.

yesterday morning. here i was, already late for work and some old guy and middle-aged lady had to carry on their dispute on the right lane of jln jelatek.

ended up cursing the two… had a peek at the car that was bumped into when i switched lanes and couldn’t see any damage done. maybe the old bugger was just trying to argue on principle….

chikalo sungguh… dah le aku nak kena masuk office then rush to the other office for a meeting… ended up arriving at office fuming…

wherever i lay my hat

fara | 4/17/2007 | 11:48 pm

so two posts ago i mentioned abt our new place. so here’s the dig.

after nearly 5 years of crashing me parents’ place, we finally moved into our own home.. not the one that we bought.. mind you.. we’re in the midst of finalising the sale of that.. it’s a leased property…

but i am ngelating a bit arh.. as it’s only 5 mins drive from my parents’..any closer, we’d be like ray romano in everybody loves raymond. it’s closer to kakak’s school though..which is a boon…it was quite a hassle having to double-back after sending kya to school.

may prolly even think of purchasing the place if the landlord is willing and price is right .. but that’s another year’s plan… not gonna rush into another property purchase… ehh ayang?! :P
