so the supposed date of apr 3rd earlier mentioned turned out to be apr 9th instead.
what happened?
the day i was s’posed to report back to duty, got me down with a cold.. the doc prescribed me with the mc required and told me to rest. hah! rest? when u have a newborn and a toddler to boot?… that word don’t exist in me vocabulary.
suffice to say i took longer than the requisite one day of rest to get well. so the day after, was given another mc. anaqi’s 2nd month check-up and immunization appointment was scheduled that week too – hence the decision to just extend my leave to last friday.
update on how i got thru the first day back at work
- woke up @ 5 am just so i can get everything in readiness (for work, pumping session, anaqi’s feed for the day etc)
- anaqi woke up early today and just gave me a quiet stare for roughly 20 mins – methinks he sensed something amiss when mama’s not lounging beside him at those wee hours of the morning
- kakak had a short bout of separation anxiety (i was on leave for nearly 2.5 months you see…)
- i had a bout of separation anxiety when i drove out of the porch of our newly rented place (that’s another post in itself)
- arrived at work by 8:00 am and realised i had no idea where exactly my team mates had relocated to.. i just knew the generic floor.
- after 3 calls, found out where we were at and headed to my new workplace
- was happily informed of all the worries of the world (that project world) within the first 20 mins of arriving
- spent nearly the whole day reconfiguring everything required to make me a functional member of the team
- managed to execute two pumping sessions… IN THE LOO (!!) as i couldn’t locate an appropriate secluded area on the floor (managed to ferret out the info later in the day after my 2nd pumping session whilst cleaning the equipment in the loo)
- saw a mother with a baby roughly anaqi’s age while leaving the office and felt like flying back home
- drove like a maniac (i wish..) home
- bagi salam at the gate and managed to eye anaqi waving his arms and pumping his legs frantically at the sound of my voice.
- salam-ed and kiss-kissed with amir and kakak – stored the milk in the freezer and had a quick drink
- finally gave anaqi his evening feed – i felt mucho mucho better afterwards (anaqi’s sighs of pleasure after finishing his feed attested to that too)
i think we’ll do alright…
on the note of changing job responsibilities – have yet to sit down with the div head… dun think i will until i’ve sussed out the situation with the project.

well done ly-d.. especially on your persistence to continue breastfeeding. it sure takes effort, but i’m sure it’ll be worth it!

huhu… finally managed to use a proper room for pumping(if a small filing room can be called proper).. at least it ain’t the loo!
methinks the cold weather at the office has gotten to me.. on wednesday after a meeting, me hands and feet felt chilly and numb… and body felt achey (achy?) … rerupe nye demam..
so ended up on MC yesterday and today too… doc is worried that it may be a viral thing.. so supposed to get my blood checked if the fever persists..
anaqi is of course very de happy to hv mama at home..
