chronicles of a confined mother: breastfeeding after returning to work
fara | 3/14/2007 | 9:04 amwhen kya was born, i had this idea that i’d be breastfeeding her for awhile before switching to formula. however, i failed to do my homework on this and just continued with my pregnancy – focusing on delivering my project at that time.
lo and behold – the journey of becoming exclusively breastfeeding mom was not a bed of roses (why do they call it a bed of roses?? roses have thorns kan??) .. anywho…. needless to say, i actually gave up after the 4th month.
so when i got preggers the second time round.. am quite sure i will be able to do what i couldn’t with kya.. did me homework.. read up a lot on the forums and articles available on the topic.
though – the choice of which breast pump to use when returning to work had occupied my thoughts the past week and this…. i finally decided with AVENT Isis system…. this lil website and its author is very helpful.. she also gave a lot of feedback and advice on my selection. since normally i rarely change my mind once it’s made up on a matter, it was good advice but not taken..
so here’s to the next two weeks before returning to work and my slowly changing anaqi’s feeding method from the breast to expressed breast milk.. wish me luck!!!

hi ly-d.. congrats on your second one! and good luck with continuing to breastfeed after going back to work. me still exclusively breastfeeding too at 4.5 months.. but i guess i have no excuse since i’m with him all the time!
thanks shasha!! hehe… i wish i could be a SAHM (stay at home mother) .. even for 6 months… at least i could try to exclusively breastfeed for that long… but commitments a-calling…
it’ll be easier the longer u go.. meself, had 2 pumps, 1 isis that i use at the office, and 1 electric one that i use for malas2 time at home when i need to stock up. have something to eat a few mins b4 u pump, u’ll get more err.. output
by the way, do u have a place to store the milk at work?

thing is.. their fridge is located on the 36th floor of pett… masyuk dak? which means i hv to switch elevators to store milk either after pumping or just before heading for lunch…
tapi takpa… will usaha sehingga jayaaaa
maybe u can try storing ‘em in the cooler bag that momslittleones have. at least tak payah laa go up n down so many times a day..
on 2nd thought, that’s another form of exercise to get that bod to pre-pregnancy slimness.. hahaha
