to kakcik, re: dirty old men

fara | 10/11/2006 | 10:56 am

i dunno la why kan.. u always manage to attract dirty old men on the lrt. based on me review of your work outfit, nothing to provoke such unwanted attention. but men will be men.. esp. dirty old men.

so here’s my advise. take the car to work.. kehkeh. which is what i am gonna do.. not becoz dirty old men ogle me (they must be blind to wanna ogle la).. but becoz i can’t afford hving to squeeze between makcik2 gungho in lrt.

18 Ramadhan 1427H – chronicles of a preggy lady on the putra line

fara | 10/11/2006 | 8:00 am

i am the very touched.

this mornin’ was a tad late in heading for the swangsa lrt station. instead of the targetted 7:10am deadline – i only managed to get there by 7:20am. for those commuters in that area, they’ll know that on a normal day – the queue would hv already started forming (and i say ‘queue’ in a veryyyyy veryyy loose term). but during ramadhan – it increases twofold – methinks mostly due to the change in office hrs to allow muslim staff intending to break their fast to leave early (circa 4 – 4:30pm)

so there i was, at the end of a line (crooked one, that is) of roughly 20++ other commuters, facing the prospect of waiting at least for 3 trains to pass b4 ever getting a chance to squeeze in. on a good day, that would take at least 20 mins. on bad days, don’t even ask.

i’d mentally prepared myself to wait at least 20 mins when a putra line staff beckoned me to the front of the line. this ‘makcik’ beside me was the one who eagerly responded (ape la makcik). i was surprised (and very touched) but as i wasn’t in quite that much of a rush, i declined his offer to cut the queue.

a train arrived – as usual, madness ensued (esp. with the makciks who are trying to get to god-knows-where). the coaches were quite full – but having the putra line staff there helped in moving the crowd further into the coaches. i mentally cut the waiting time to 10 mins – this guy was quite good and professional.

suddenly, he beckoned me again – insisting that i squeeze into this space roughly my size (if i suck in my preggy tummy, that is ), making a remark that i should not wait any longer than necessary.

not wishin’ to be seen as an ingrate, i accepted the offer this time – to the dismay of the other waiting commuters… hey.. i didn’t want to squeeze in, meh?! it’s just me condition?

so here i am – in my office in less than 15 minutes after arriving at the lrt station. not bad aye?!

note to self:

write an appreciation letter to mention that putra line staff. of course, it’s his job, but everyone doing good of his job should be praised, no?
