al-fatihah

fara | 4/24/2006 | 4:17 pm

was just acquainted with one of our clients in east coast last tuesday during our business trip. she took us out for lunch (we were transport-less in kerteh) and picked up the tab. i promised to return the favor when she comes down to kl for business.

this morning, received the sad news of her passing. she was involved in an accident with 3 others. two perished while the other two are warded.

may ALLAH bless her good soul.

what new thing have you tasted this week?

fara | 4/23/2006 | 6:33 pm

three-layered tea.

that’s the new thing i tasted when i was in the land of hornbills last week. thanks to achat and intan. tea, evaporated milk & wheatgrass. pity i didn’t take a photo of it. but seeing that was darned famished when i reached the restaurant – first thought was to demolish everything placed infront of me.

intan said that in kch they have another version of 3-layered tea (with gula abong). had made up my mind to try that out during our 3-hr transit in kch on return trip to kl. pity though it rained cats (err no pun intended) and dogs – so didn’t manage to get that far. apart from getting to taste kolo mee instead! ash said the restaurant she was @ had 4-layered and 5-layered teas but she missed those items on the menu until after she placed her order.

am all for new experiences with food…. so long it’s yummy !

now to find the exact recipe to the drink.

do #1: kayaking with dolphins

fara | 4/15/2006 | 7:28 am

blardy kewl.

was blog-surfing this morning… woke @ 5 am for a wee-wee break.. (heck! why can’t i wake up early on weekdays?).. and couldn’t fall back to sleep. came across kennysia’s entry on kuching dolphins which intrigued me.

blimey! who would’ve thought that we had dolphins in our backyard? (err… not peninsular laa kan…)…

anywho.. i would really love to go kayaking again.

my first kayaking experience was during some workshop during my spm year – we were in itm lendu’s lake.. it was in melaka if am not mistaken.. i personally thot it was fun.. 30 of my batch (along with 60 others from 2 more boarding skools).. all trying our hand at maneuvering that blasted vessel.

my second experience was during my scholarship induction programme. that was actually a bit of heaven in hell.. (hell being the induction program laaa… 2 weeks of organised torture, both on mind and body)..

this time we kayak-ed in the sea.. for some reason, the facilitators had it in them to volunteer me to demonstrate how to extricate yourself when ur kayak topples. me!… who dunno how to swim!… i just went ahead and did it… after the fact, i told ‘em i couldn’t swim *i was floundering in water .. ha ha*.. they had the nerve to say why didn’t you tell us?…

anyone who’s been to these types of programmes would know that you should never show ur weaknesses to facilitators.. they’d just jump on it and force you to do the exact same thing that you fear… a very sadistic form of fear-factor.. seeing that you dun get USD500,000 if you get thru it.

anywho.. yeah.. i’d love to go kayaking again.. on my own free will this time

and getting to see dolphins up close?! that’d be a very welcome bonus!

pet peeve #3

fara | 4/14/2006 | 8:50 pm

people hogging the effin escalators.

i hv nothin against ppl hving a chat whilst taking the journey down/up the escalators.

what i don’t understand is why do they hv to do it while blocking the way for others in a hurry.

board the effin escalators and keep to the left – that’s all you need to do. you still hv your chat, i can shorten my own escalator ride – if need be!
