her first movie outing

it’s been ages since both amir & i been to the movies. the last movie may have been spiderman 2 or was it the first installment? i can’t recall.. it’s been thaaaaat long. post-delivery we’ve been to movies like 4-5 times – all of ‘em after setting up m.o.u. with mama & papa to look after her in the evening.anywho, so last week we both decided it’s time for another foray to the cinema.. to catch pink panther – and to bring kya along! weird choice of a movie to bring a 2.5 year old along – but if you’ve seen her watch pirates of the carribean, you’ll know that she’s ok with grown-up movies.so we booked the tickets online for the early bird show on saturday @ tgv suria klcc – last row, of course, just in case we needed to make a quick exit.
she was happy enough to arrive @ klcc – her mama works there, y’know. but when i took her to tgv itself to collect tickets – she freaked a bit due to the lighting & the big posters, i guess. managed to coax her to the ticket collection booth by showing her the lovely stars on the carpeting. the same trick was also applied when we entered the cinema halls.the cinema hall air-conditioning was on full-blast – good thing i came prepared – so on went another layer of clothing on kya. she was also quite concerned when the lights went off, prompting a ‘mama, pasang la lampu baliiikkkkkkk‘
for the first half of the movie, we left the cinema hall a total of 5 times (incl. a false poo-poo alarm) but finally managed to settle down when inspector clousou started his accent coaching.. aye woooodd lie do bey ey dembeger and kya remained glued to the big screen til the end with her hand in the popcorn box & cheezels packet.
all in all, it was a good outing – i hated feeling guilty whenever i went for movies with amir, leaving her at home with her grannies.
next planned movie outing : over the hedge
this should have her glued from start to end – since the producers are from madagascar - and that one is on her list of absolute favorites (alongside doraemon, mickey mouse & friends, mr bean : the animated series)
haha kewlllll!! now u can have movie outings all the time eh? i haven’t gone to a cinema since like… errr… a year and 2 mths already??!! :O
wowee.. i can just imagine me bringing arina now!! haha..though i cant wait to bring her to one. Dunno how she would re-act. Most prob would be like kya. She sounds soo adorable.. siap suruh mama die pasang lampu balik..hehe
actually did some homework before even thinking abt taking her to movies.
babycenter has a few articles that provide tips on taking kids to movies – which included prepping the child beforehand (explain that lights will go off, large display etc etc) and not forcing the child to sit still if he/she is afraid or uneasy.
i may not get to see the whole show but at least we’re getting there. he he. have already started scouting for other titles – ice age 2 is one of them.
