* WPG2 CANNOT LOCATE GALLERY2 ITEM BY *i’ve been wanting to upgrade my wp ever since they announce 2.0.
thing is - i just got me wpg2 working then and when reading up, seems like the current release of gallery (2.0) only proven to work with 1.5.2
so i keep holding it off for later.
now they got it up to 2.0.1 - and i am starting to crack under pressure. pressure to actually use all those new features promised to be in the admin view for wp2.0 (and of course 2.0.1).
now .. if only i can sacrifice my wpg2 - else, find time to really read abt making wp2.0.1 work with gallery2
ok - nerdy ramblings at 1:20am ends here. off to hit the sack ~

just remembered i’m one of those who’s yet to pay up for the gift intended for syamrin’s kid. aiyayayaya… ainul.. don’t kill me kay?! will mb2u it to you tomorrow. when i relocate that email you sent me… or prolly u could send me the 3rd and final reminder? *wince*
this morning was our project leader’s makan2. he’s leaving on wednesday and had intended to treat the whole floor breakfast. as it turned out, half the floor was away (how could that be? - plant turnaround, that’s why). so instead of just breakfast - it could last til lunch. quite a number of occupants of level 59 & 60 came downstairs too. then we saw her - the one who used-to-be our project director. thankfully, she’s been assigned to do greater things so has no time to bother us minions. mentioned the fact that she’s here to ash - and lo & behold! she actually came by my cubicle to have a goss session.
what could’ve been just a 2-second ‘hie there’ thing turned into a 30-min long session on the following:
1. the fact that ash registered in dec and she wasn’t in the loop (like, who dya think you are to ash?)
2. her asking how to get hitched with guys online (huh?) as that’s what accenture guys do to get their life-partners.
3. her rubbing it in to us - the fact that we’re stuck in this project for more than we should be. basically what she’s trying to imply is that we’re committing career-suicide lah!
methinks she’s dying for female companionship - since her work is surrounded by network and data center guys. oh well, hope that’ll be like the last encounter for the next 1/2 year at least. enuff ego already.

1 mth and a half ago, my notebook dieded on me. it was on new year’s day. what a way to celebrate new year - thank you very much.
thank god it was not my own - it was the one assigned to me by the company. so i returned it to my IT dept, hoping that it could be saved. alas! the IT doctor told me they have to pull the plug on that one.
seeing that this is the case, i asked whether i could get me a temporary notebook. the nature of my work requires me to be able to lug around my work. my luck ran out there too - all the floating notebooks have already been assigned to others. a request was raised for a new notebook under me name.
after a lot of mails flying between myself, project leader, IT dept guy and mainly finance, i finally got me new notebook on wednesday. lighter - supposedly much better performing and with wlan & bluetooth to boot!
found out yesterday that the supposed bluetooth connectivity was a misinformation - boo hoo. and here i was all ready to start doing some bluejacking.. keh keh..
let’s see how long this notebook will last.

heartwarming to read the efforts of this couple (article in thestar online).. it is damn obvious that although we are bombarded by community service messages on the telly & on the airwaves re: recycling, not many are that keen on carrying it out.
main reason: toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo tedious
1st u need to sort
2nd u need to ensure its fit to be recycled (not all tin cans can be recycled, but how de heck should i know?)
3rd find the correct collection centre
4th transport back the ones that u thought could be recycled but in actual fact can’t
my dad is one of those who try to recycle. newspapers, tin cans, scrap metal. u name it. if you can throw it in my neighborhood, he would salvage it. our house ends up being like a dumpsite (clean dumpsite laaa). is the source of quite a number of disagreements with mama dearest - according to her, he’s hoarding too much junk.
but as the article highlights - not all things that should be recycled is accepted by the middle-man. add to that the fact that no hard & fast rule is in place to ensure manufacturers also think green. the more containers that are not reusable are manufactured, the more tedious recycling gets for your normal citizen. only those with the passion and zeal to save our environment would take that extra effort to do so.
everytime the word recycling pops up, i would always recall my days in melbourne. there they would have 2 types of waste collection rote. one for the household refuse, another for reusable materials. the council even provides the garbage bins and recycling boxes for each household. recycling is part of our daily lives. even items that i buy from your local supermarket would most likely have the recycle symbol on it (either meaning it can be recycled or was made from recycled materials)
in malaysia, some parts do have managed reusable refuse collection. but it’s not that widespread - knowing us (me included) unless authorities make the effort to collect - we wouldn’t make the effort to recycle.
here’s my promise to myself and the future generation. i will start with my own home (when i move out from me parents’ since my dad has already taken the lead now) and instill the awareness into my children (notice the plural ?)
