a-visiting

fara | 2/8/2005 | 4:19 pm

am finally going to get my arse over to GHKL and visit this friend of mine . truly don’t feel like i can call myself a friend seeing that she’s been in and out of the hospital since sept 04 and i only managed to fit in a visit today.

fara out!

update:
saw her, spent 2 hrs just catching up on how she’s been (apart from what she’s already posted on her blog) and giving back goss on the company. all the while being very overwhelmed at seeing how thin/pale she’s grown, the very matter-of-fact way she details out all the things she’s been through, and realising how lonely it is to be staying in the ward for as long as she has had to.

oh.. and managed to appropriate one novel from the book bag that was meant for her  sorry nadd ! been awhile since i’ve read chic lit.

post lunch-preparing frenzy

fara | 2/6/2005 | 1:39 pm

those who have lived with me know that i could do without having rice as part of my daily staple. i can survive on bread, fish fingers, cereals, salami, honey, dairy (butter, milk and cheese) and peanut butter (not in any particular order). breakfast can be toast with butter and honey AND peanut butter. lunch can be salami slapped between toast – don’t forget the cheese – and grill this. dinner.. can be toast again. or salami toast. or cereals. whichever.

but since i bunk with my family, of course we have to have rice on our menu. i normally don’t cook. that’s mama’s absolute zone ehehehe.. i ‘help’ out sometimes. but on weekends, especially when mama and papa attend wedding invitations, head for that quick trip back to tg malim or just visiting relatives and my clan don’t tag along, i will end up having to cook.

today’s one of those days.

thank god mama has decided on the menu. i just execute

now i understand why ayu would sometimes end up with a bad mood if my brothers don’t help looking out for their nephews – adam and haikal. children will almost always call for you when you’re in the midst of a task. but when you’re just sitting around doing nuthin, they can usually fend for themselves and play with their toys.

kya knocked on the kitchen door – it’s closed since the menu involves a lot of frying and chillies – at least 5 times throughout my tenure as the resident chef. andy’s supposed to entertain her as per my instruction but of course he had to be in front of the pc playing ragnarok.

‘mamaaaa….‘ knock knockk ‘mamaaaaaa.. intuu ‘kakk..’kakkk intuuu ‘ and then she’ll start shrieking coz andy tries to pick her up from near the door and i’ll end up having to stop and try and figure out what she wants.

thus a 1 hr session turned into a two hour cooking spree.

kya’s finally asleep. amir is also asleep. andy’s infront of the pc, still. and i came across this while prowling the web before taking a shower (need to get the smell of cooking offa me)

interesting things you can find, if you prowl often enough.

okay. off to my shower.

tracking tracks

fara | 2/4/2005 | 4:41 pm

reading TV SMITH’s Dua Sen: Figuring Figures Part 1 got me to seriously scrutinise those seemingly useless web stats that is provided by my webhost. as i am not doing this as a commercial venture or trying to reach a large audience, the numbers and facts seemed gibberish to me.

but then i took a second look and noticed a few stuff. esp on the search strings that led to my site. most don’t make any sense (which reflects on the content of this blog & the mother site anyways he he)

interesting to note: i have 223 unique IPs making a pit stop at this domain for this month? wow!

fara out. (continue figuring out the stats)

checking on kya

fara | 2/3/2005 | 8:58 am

blogmages/bookworminthemaking.jpg i’ve just realised i’ve been remiss on getting kya checked out by a doctor ever since she’s had her final baby jab last december. i don’t even keep track of her weight and height anymore when during her first year, for every month without fail i would keep records of both in my notebook (and i even chart it!) – it helped that during that first 12 months of her life, i was bound to bring her for check ups at the clinic nearby.

prolly need to set a reminder for me on stitch-0. monthly. to at least get my arse down to the clinic and have kya go through the rudimentary things like seeing whether she’s growing at a normal rate. not only head over there when kya has the sniffles or is bitten by an insect or develops heat rash.

here’s a link i am going to save and visit often from now on

blogmages/happybookworm.jpg i’ve actually remembered to get kya some books. picture books with bright colors. she enjoys it a lot. though sometimes it’s hard to get her to sit down and read with me so i am putting off getting hold of those ladybird key words book series that i’ve been exposed to when i was young. the neighborhood times has inventory of 3a and above. will do some more bookstore haunting later.

last night i was actually glued to the idiot box. watching the auditions to american idol. out of the blue, kya calls out for me and proceeded to make clucking noises. i didn’t pay that much attention, then she came close and started pulling my hand while pointing to her open book. it was turned to the picture of a chicken. she wanted me to read with her. we went through two books – animals and new words – skipping mostly to the pictures she likes the most. that’s a start.
