as promised, here are snapshots of kya with her new do.

last week it was amir who succumbed to the nasty virus (or is it bacteria? i can never differentiate)
this week, it made its home in me - after a quick stop in kya over the weekend (she had running nose for at least 2 days - thankfully it didn’t get worse).
had to take time off from work yesterday. was a bit worried about this presentation that AMN’s supposed to do today (had a few loose ends i didn’t get to settle last week) but the function was postponed to next month. phewww
so now here i am.. trying to think about my KPIs and also figuring how best to manage our client’s expectancy wrt this new module we’re trying to rollout.
fara out.. *cough*
snapped quite a number of her photos on stitch-0 but never seem to manage to post most of them. so here goes.
this scab was due to a mishap while she was taking her morning stroll with her yaie (granddad). papa usually allows her to walk up and down inclines leading to our neighbour’s porch. this actually helps with her balance and would allow her to learn how to pace herself (she tends to blitz around the house too much.. with nary a thought of all the furniture and toys lying around). thing is.. on that morning - monday methinks - she was also holding a piece of breakfast (her fav - jemput2 ikan bilis). so when she was going down the incline, she picked up the pace too much and ended up toppling at the bottom. normally she would manage to catch herself but since she was thinking of saving her breakfast, both her knees got scraped in the process. the worse hit was her left. and this is the evidence.
these cheeks are constantly smooched, pinched, sucked and basically just tortured by the 4 adults and 2 other kids in the house. it is also among the favorite targets for nasty, annoying mosquitoes (squashhhh em i will.. all of emm!!!). smells best when she wakes up from sleep, after she’s just taken her bath, after she had her milk, after she has her fill of the playground, when she’s busy minding her own business playing with her toys, while she is watching her favorite disney channel shows, after praying together, just before she goes to sleep … err you get my drift.. it’s anytime of the day (and night). that’s a doctor prescribed anti-stress drug free of charge * if you’re in the circle of trust that is… if not, it’s pay per smooch!!*
kya’s hair don’t grow that fast. she used to have tonnes of hair.. which i kept even after relatives told us we should shave her head so that new hair could grow. i relented when she had the measles - she was scratching her head too much. then it grew back.. at an agonising pace. it’s a wild mane of hair - mostly for lack of grooming - since i can never get her to stay put long enough in one place to comb it and even when i do get to comb her hair, it almost immediately goes wild again as she zooms her way around and out of the house.
last night we cropped her hair a bit. we’ve noticed some rashes on the back of her neck and attribute that to heat so chop! chop!.. since i can’t bear to make it any shorter than necessary, i went with the 1 inch trim.. which both amir and i took turns in doing. one brandishing the comb and scissors, the other distracting the victim with story-telling, play-acting and whatnots. will post the latest hair do once i can catch kya unaware (remember she likes to eat the camera)
… hehe.. just one last pic.. for this post at least. this is kya in her sk8ter grrl pose. she loves wearing caps.. adult caps that is. she can’t bear those baby/toddler hats/caps plus i have yet to find one that fits her skull. the last she consented to wearing a baby hat was when she was 8 mths (or was it earlier?). after that, every attempt off plunking a hat on her precious head will always end up with her hat flying in all directions.
ok.. fara out! am gushing about kya too much. but then again, it’s our site ehh?
just had to post this today.
the whole city’s power went down. well, at least in my part of the city.
was in the midst of a brainstorming session (otak ribut, as AMN likes to call it) when suddenly the lights on the meeting floor flickered. thought it was just a recurrence of the floor blackout which happened a few weeks back so didn’t think much of it. so we continued our discussion.
then the lights and the air-conditioning went dead. a few text msges away, discovered not only was the towers affected, it was affecting the whole city. and a few other cities (tsk.. towns) in malaysia too.
as per normal, we waited for the announcement via the PA system. the voice informed us not to attempt to leave our floors as the power failure is affecting the elevators too (which led all of us to think what’s with this world-class building’s backup generator?)
i was already feeling pangs of hunger since my brekkie was only a cuppa campbell chicken soup sprinkled with oatmeal.
finally, we decided to leave the building onboard the only operating elevator in the group of elevators that’s servicing the floor. the lobby was pitch dark and we were greeted with the sight of literally hundreds of people just standing/waiting to be able to go upstairs again.
since i don’t make a habit of carrying a handbag nor lugging my wallet/car keys to any meeting, and due to the irrational fear of stopping at my floor only to find myself unable to get another elevator ride down, i had left the tower with only my notebook and stitch-0.
well, thank god for stitch-0 as i would’ve been cut off completely from the family. text msged amir, mama and also managed to call home just before leaving the floor, i was assured that everybody else was accounted for.
to cut the story short -
the ordeal ended at 4pm. waited awhile before heading back to my floor (to avoid the crush of ppl also rushing to get back to their desks). reached the dark floor. decided there and then against trying to squeeze in any kind of work. packed up my stuff and headed home.
and here i am. blogging at 5.00pm from home.
kya usually feeds herself when she’s at home. if we’re visiting, i would feed her instead.
as such, some mess is usually expected. she has her own kain sapra - basically like a picnic blanket - which we will lay in the middle of the living room for her to sit on while she does her thing. more often than not, 80% of the food ends up being on the blanket. and she will then proceed to feed from the blanket
occassionally, stray particles of food would end up on the carpet/floor and this is where the ‘training’ ingrained by papa (her atuk) will make its appearance. upon instruction, she will head to the kitchen to get hold of the enkrak to clean up her own mess. it’s fun observing her concentrating hard at her task.
mama calls it child abuse
what they said
