minute minder

fara | 11/12/2004 | 3:50 pm

am imagining self like the egg timer – you know the kind that you use to time how long you should wait to get that perfectly hard boiled egg. only in my case, it’s like waiting for uluru to pass through the opening instead of those itsy bitsy particles of sand.

am actually suddenly too obsessed with time because parked my trusty piece of junk in suria, instead of the usual spot. reasons why :

don’t want to be drenched in case it rains (again) in the evening. have you noticed that kl is flood prone lately?

was already late heading back to the office from my baby-sitting (and nanny-sitting) stint during lunch.

was thinking of lugging home this notebook of mine. so i can get started on comin up with me own style. (will see whether the effort of lugging this heavy piece of technology is well worth it)

however, since i don’t possess a season pass, the parking rate is gonna be astronomical (by my standards). maybe i should start considering getting a season pass – i drive to work daily, i hate having to carry around a brolly and sometimes i’d like to be able to shop before i head home and the 8-10 min walk to my current parking spot is not easy with hands full.

ok. time to head home.

while everybody’s at it. here goes.

MUBARAK TO ALL. ZERO-ZERO EH

see attached an e-greeting from the company. (since i have lost all my creative juices already)

zoning out

fara | 11/12/2004 | 11:26 am

blergh! the word bored can’t even start to describe the zone that i am in right now. am fiddling a bit with some output types requested by a user but frankly, i’d rather be home. but then when i am at home, i’d be thinking – i’d rather be at work.

the office is a tad quiet. not due to the non-existence of ppl. there’s at least half a floor here but i guess everybody’s in the mood for raya.

speaking of which – amir’s raya outfit is still hanging/bagged up somewhere at den wahab’s store in masjid india – yes, it’s not collected yet. not for lack of trying. masjid india and the area around it is notorious for its unbelievable (err actually it is believable) traffic. amir headed for masjid india yesterday. ostensibly to pick up the outfit but ended up not being able to due to unavailable parking space. defeats the purpose of him heading there on his bike – can you believe that? not even an eensy weensy space for a measly bike?

that’s what you get for going to masjid india on a public holiday nearing another auspicious celebration. deepavali nearing raya. hordes and hordes of wallet happy people spending their hard earned buck on ‘cheap’ deals. i’ve fallen to the lure in the past. bought a few lengths of materials (with my mum in tow of course, i can’t tell one type of material to another even if my life depended on it). sent it to my aunt to sew it. ended up not wearing it. just because material a bit too ‘festive’. can only be worn on special occassions – which are far apart.

did try wearing one of the said outfit to work. ended up having to curb my tongue from responding to the comments that it provoked.

“nak pegi open house ke?”
“wahhh.. macam pengantin!!”
“mcm siti punya baju wooo..”

the rest i can flick away except for the last comment. he he. those close to me now how i detest siti. oh well, back into the wardrobe you go you offending piece of outfit!

back to amir’s outfit. raya announcement is supposed to be tonight so basically, unless either amir or i manage to steal a bit of the day to run to masjid india to pick it up, amir will end up wearing a non-matching pair of baju melayu. boo – hoo.. and i so wanted to have that perfect raya picture of us in matching outfits.

maybe i can still catch the LRT and collect it. den wahab bukak lagi ke?

oh my what big eyes you have

fara | 11/10/2004 | 3:07 pm

kya_bigeyes

this is my daughter – code name KYA – short for fikriyah. the most frequent remark that she will get is ‘besar nye mata diaaaaaaa!!’. she got it from me. oh well, i used to have big eyes. now it’s more like tired eyes or crossed eyes, thehehe. raising a kid is no small feat. i absolutely admire those who have more than one. like my sister – she has two rambunctious boys.. the younger one, kya idolises .. she goes ‘qaiii.. qaiii’ which is her take of the name haikal.

! omigod

fara | 11/9/2004 | 1:13 pm

 i just realised. it’s less than a week to raya and it slipped my mind to collect amir’s baju melayu *gasp*. now where was that receipt ?

this is not the only time i’ve been so absent-minded and in those earlier incidents, i am ashamed that i even managed to repeat it on the same day (albeit a year later) – but that is stuff for another entry.

time to call home and check whether amir actually went and picked up his clothes from the tailor himself. :???:
