my first letter to a local authority

6 07 2008

i usually couldn’t be bothered to write complaints or suggestions - mostly due to my lack of faith in the system. but as this was a matter that was close at heart, i tried to submit my complaint, just to see whether anything would come of it.

true enuff - it’s been > 1 months since their response below and although the enforcement officers did drop by but yet nothing positive has been done. i even tried to follow up but all the email addresses listed below bounced back!

oh well - time for my next course of action - to forward this to the local assemblyman!

Subject: Complaint on Inconsiderate Parking @ Keramat Permai Business Centre

To whom it may concern,

I would like to submit my complaint with regards to a tenant/unit owner’s inconsiderate parking at Jalan AU 1A/4E, Taman Keramat Permai. My family and I regularly patronise the clinic located at No 16 (Ground Floor) on the street and most of the time I would make use of the parking bays made available on the street.

There have been instances whereby we would need to drop off the patient infront of the clinic first as no parking bays are available nearby. This, in principle, should not be hard to do as the side of the street adjacent to the shoplots have been marked as no parking and waiting zone from my observation

Incomplete-unfinished line infront of 16-JlnAU1A-4E.jpgHowever, I have noticed that a specific vehicle will always be parked at the front of the clinic at the inconvenience of others – making it difficult for patients to be dropped off (esp. elderly, critically ill, pregnant ladies)

I was made aware by the operator of the clinic that the vehicle belongs to an owner of upper shop-lot  unit and that either one of that person’s car would always occupy that spot. And if there’s any time that both cars are not occupying the spot – the unit owner would then place chairs/stools to ‘reserve’ that spot for his/her use.

Apparently, the good doctor had sent a letter herself with regards to the matter but was informed by MPAJ that she should instead pay season parking fees for the use of her patients – which is not the issue at hand.

WEF9773_parked daily at no-waiting zone .jpgAnother point that I would like to highlight is the fact that the no waiting/parking marker (yellow lines) is either unfinished/incomplete at exactly the spot that the unit owner is occupying – this raises doubts as to the reason why the line is not complete. A normal person would assume this is to the convenience of that specific person as without that marking on the spot – no enforcement officer can issue the vehicle owner a ticket for parking offences. Attached photos of the incomplete road markings and the vehicle in question.

I would like to suggest that MPAJ send in their enforcement officers to carry out the following:

·         Investigate the validity of my claim (of the incident)

·         Instruct that  the owner of the vehicle to no longer occupy the spot

·         Suggest to the owner to undertake season parking to reserve a proper parking bay on the street Jalan AU1A/4E

Note:

I have previously been issued 2 ticket for either failing to pay parking fees or having an expired ‘Pay and Display’ ticket at the same street – but I have never noticed the said vehicle WEF9773 (which is parked at a no parking/waiting zone) being issued a ticket in the numerous times I’ve seen it occupying that spot.

books gone, helloowww toys

20 06 2008

it’s been quite sometime since i made a trip to a bookstore - klcc boasts two rather large outlets - but you would normally find me @ the one at level 4 - due to the fact the design of the store that invites you to actually flip through the books anywho - for children books however, i find myself preferring the selection offered at the outlet on concourse level.

finally got my appraisal signed off around 7:30pm today *a friday!!* after 3 times having the session rescheduled and the fact that the sessions of colleagues scheduled before me all dragged way over their scheduled time.

before heading for the carpark, thought of prolly getting hold of a few books for anaqi.lo and behold - instead of a bookstore - i was greeted by the sight of toys’R'us name being splattered all over the plywood boards cordoning off the outlet. seems like i’ll be getting my wish for it to be located in klcc !!

note to self: do not head there with kakak and adik in tow unless their baba is around

kakak update: she has turned 5 and of best friends

13 06 2008

she turned 5 while we were at penang the week i took off to head north. methinks we have been taking her on vacation for each of her birthdays without fail. lucky for her that her birthday coincides with school holidays.

CIMG3323but as it fell during school hols - and coz her parents are a bit lazy in that department - we did not host any birthday party. to compensate, on her first day back to school, arranged that during their break - kakak would hv a birthday cake and goodie bags to share.

i based my estimation on her pre-1 class from last year and also from kakak quoting names of her classmates - so ended up with 16 goodie bags to share. monday evening, when she reported on her day at school - discovered that we were actually short - and kakak said “ma, teacher ask me to tell you that we have 18 in my class!”

as we had extras at home - i provided her with another 4 goodie bags to take to her class on tues. had the inspiration to call the administration office - but was flabberghasted to hear that her class holds 27 kids!! 27 kids? how can that be conducive?

i immediately went off tangent when i heard the # of kids in her class. terus buat YM conference with amir. both agreed that 27 seems to be a bit too high a number - considering that it was a premium pre-school too! issue to be highlighted during parent-teacher day this weekend

CIMG3282.jpgcome wednesday - i myself headed over to her classroom with anaqi in tow to provide the additional goodie bags. kakak immediately approached the classroom door and that was when noticed her entourage - two cute girls with curly hair (slightly smaller in build from kakak of course!) was kepoh-ing to see who is it at the door.

i had assumed that these were sonia and sofia - two names that kept being mentioned in her reports to me at the end of the day - who were supposedly her best friends. but i was wrong - kakak responded that one of sofia and another anis.

i asked where is sofia? ’she’s not my best friend la, ma. she sits far away’ - i took that as reference to their classroom seating - so who are your best friends?

sonia, damia, anis, imanina…. and she rattled off a few other names …

this. from a girl who during her pre-1 class report was noted as ‘likes to sit by herself and rarely joins in group play’ .. alhamdulillah. kawan la banyak2 kakak.. the more the merrier!
